Shot in Apenheul.
Windy weather conditions made the branches and leaves move, resulting in that busy blurred background.
The young is looking out of the image; this could be interpreted as provocative compositionwise?

Endangered species

All lemurs are endangered species or threatened species, many species became already extinct in the last centuries, due mainly to habitat destruction (deforestation) and hunting. Although conservation efforts are under way, options are limited because of the lemurs' limited range and because of Madagascar's economic situation relative to the developed world. Currently, there are 85 living lemur species accounted for in current publications, with more currently awaiting publication. Indigenous superstitions that strepsirrhines like the nocturnal Aye-aye are omens and harbingers of bad fortune motivate some locals in remote areas to post hunting traps.

One of the foremost lemur research facilities is the Duke University Lemur Center.

Hi Annick,
I see you have been out in the sun again photographing this Lemur. Cute little animals. In a local zoo they roam around and mix with the spectators. One day there was one curled up in a kiddies pram!! I hope they got it out before leaving.
TFS.

Hi Annik,
Lovely image of this Lemur! Excellent sharpness and details in the fur and the eyes are stunning! Great lighting, well captured. TFS Cheers Tina :-)

Every time I read that a specie is endangered, it is just break my hearth. I think that humans have never realized how far it can go by destroying natural habitats or hunting.... Superstitions and poaching have caused so many severe damages too. This is a pity...

This is a superb portrait of this cute animal that look so special too me. Details, exposure, contrast are beautiful. I maybe would have let a little more space in the frame though. I like the expression in its eyes, like he was reading the future. TFS,
Claudine
