Yet another photo from the early morning trip to the Archemerberg. Here you see the pathway that leads to the top of the hill. Just behind these trees the heathland starts. The pathway is know for it stairs which you can see in this photo.

The flowers you see in the FG belong to the Common Broom (Cytrisus Scoparius) a plant that grows in this area alot.

When I took this photo I had already waited for over 15 minutes. I was hoping that some sunlight would hit the Common Broom so that the flower would illuminate even more. Unfortunately some trees standing on a little hill kept blocking the sun. At least I got some nice play of shadows and sunlight. I used a ND3.3 grad filter to balance the exposure but still got a small hot zone just above the pathway.

This has been the only moment that I was able to wait so long without anybody disturbing the morning peace. Normally this is the most taken path up the hill. But that day it was a national holiday and I was sure that nobody was getting up as early as I did.

Hello Niek,
A lovely scenery, a romantic atmosphere!
The image is very well composed, and the yellow flowers are natural eye-catchers in front...
Good lead-in by the path, attractive varied light!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Niek,
This is obviously a very well-planned shot - really first-class! I love the low POV and the perspective upwards with the broom in the foreground. The light and the shadows cast is very beautiful!
Many thanks, Ulla

Hi Niek,
Excellent shot. So refreshing and cool depiction of the natural environment. The FG pathway leads us and the blue sky awaits us. The yellow flowers add soothing colours. Superb POV and very well composed. Kudos.

Hallo Niek,

Het is zoals inmiddels gebruikelijk van jou, weer een plaatje geworden. Lichtinval is mooi. Die belichte plekken in het middengedeelte geven een mooi effect. Op de voorgrond die brem is het kleurrijke toetje aan het geheel. Dit is een mooie compositie. Zie ik op de achtergrond Jeneverbessen??

Ciao Niek, lovely view of splendid trees, excellent light and colors, very well done, ciao Silvio

Ha niek,

Prachtig landschap
Perfecte compo met schitterende kleuren combinaties
klein min puntje "je ben niet op de paden gebleven" maar om zo'n POV te krijgen moet je wel en het zij je vergeven

Hello Niek!

Simply but beautifull! I love such places during sunny mornings. Great composition with diagonal road, very nice flowers on FG and sky on BG. I'm in work now, but believe me I wish to be in place from your picture :-)

Hi Niek,

really, you couldn't ask for anything more from this. Everything about it demsonstrates a well thought out and planned shot. The path serves well as a lead in through the image, to those varied trees that give a wonderful array of different shapes in the background, and the control of the light is fantastic, giving many different areas of light and shadow which give this an almost 3D like quality. There is maybe a small area that is a bit bright on the hoizon as you mentioned, but i really don't think it detracts from the shot in any way. The problem i sometimes have when using grads is making anything on the horizon or skyline too dark whilst trying to control the light and losing detail!

Anyway, great work as always Niek, very impressive. Gotta love that 10-20mm!

Have a good weekend,

Paul

Hi Niek

This is indeed a splendid place and this was a photo worth waiting for.
The flowers in the FG here really brighten up the scene and give a lot of extra saturation to the overall compo.
The stairs (although not very well visible) lead the way nicely towards the BG and the use of that grad filter really helped you into getting the best possible light and color for the sky.
Superb work!

Bravo and TFS

Neik,
My FRIEND.
Have not visited you all this time on purpose.
TO GIVE A WELL DESERVED REST. I was always bothering you, asking this or that. My thirst to learn about this hobby was and is still enormous; have sooooo much to learn, yet.
Once more you are "YOURSELF"
Registering GREAT images. No further comments.
A warm friendly hug,
Mario.

A non-traditional composition, Niek, but I like it. It's good to see you using the UWA, and to nice effect here. I agree about the light, I don't think it's very distracting, but I do think the perfect light could have emphasized the focal point a little better. But 15 minutes is abut as long as I'd wait. Why didn't you shoot twice, or in RAW and merge the exposures? (That's still a trick I intend to learn, and I'm hoping to fully understand the concept before the details of pulling it off).
Mike
