[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Grutto/blacked tailed Gotwit (limosa limosa????) is a bird you see here in the fields/"weilanden" on a regular basis. Mostly when you are close they leave in noise. A couple of weeks ago I noticed the more I came close the more noise they made.
It took a while to find out that they (there was a couple) were attracting my attention because a small gruto baby child was lying in between the sheeps. After I realized there action worked the oppesite I decided to leave, especially with more nasty birds hanging around.
Note:
In 2004 scientists at the University of East Anglia made a remarkable discovery about the breeding behaviour of the long-lived black-tailed godwits.

These monogamous 'love birds' establish life-long relationships which can last up to 25 years, despite, or perhaps aided by the fact that the winters are spent around 600 miles apart. The majority winter in Ireland, Britain, France and The Netherlands but some venture further south to Spain, Portugal or Morocco.

Despite the distance, the pairs manage to rendezvous in Iceland each April or May, arriving within 3 days of each other. The few pairs in the study who failed to synchronise their arrival didn't mate, and the females found themselves another partner instead.

Hi Reina,
An excellent capture of this gotwit!
It's very good your POV and the pose of the bird catched.
I like so much the elegant pose due to the long legs.
The colour of the plumage is so vivid, and I found very appealing the smooth transition from the flat colour on the neck/head to the pattern on the feathers at the back.
The only nit was already handled by Marhowie in his workshop.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.

Ha Reina,
niet echt het standaard Gruttograsland waar deze vogel zich bevind :-)
Toch is deze ongewone omgeving een mooie foto. Rechtopstaande houding van de Grutto laat alle tekening op de vogel goed zien.

I am uncertain as to why the "machine" seems to loose my comments from time to time. Ah well..I was saying this wonderful colored bird reminds me of a Curlew, which is what my old wilderness town was named for. Very similar.

Hallo Reina,

Je hebt hier een heel mooie grutto neergezet. Scherp met een heleboel fijne details. De kleuren zijn denk ik nu op zijn mooist (broedtijd)Jammer van de omgeving, anders was het een perfect plaatje geweest. Maar ja je kan niet alles hebben. Je POV, BG is gewoon goed. Alleen de kleuren zijn wat flets. De WS van marhowie heeft de kleuren en diepte erin goed gedaan. Maar het feit blijft overeind dat dit een mooie foto is. Die lange elegante poten waarmee die waarschijnlijk heel voorzichtig stappend jouw kant uitkwam, schitterend? Goed gedaan. Groeten en tot TFS BOB
