The 350D seems pretty god. Now, no excuses. Very cute coot. Nice details of the feathers and nest. The red eye is brilliant. The photo would have been perfect without the branch in front but it would have seemed as natural. Well done.
Regards Toni.

Very Coot, oops cute.
Excelent capture and well done on this composition. Not easy to shoot out in the wild. Branches everywhere, when you move, it might scare him/her off, so, you take what you can get.
You did well with this one.
I'm not sure of the O.E. on front of head and Pink bill, digital flaw? It's been my debate for awhile.
Excelent work, Pieter.

Great shot Pieter. It is not easy with the black body and bright sunshine. We have some coots around too, and i see nests all around..
Well done

A fantastic shot of this brooding coot. You have captured the black and white superbly.
It's a shame the babies won't be as attractive as their Mother!
Very well done and thanks for posting.

Very nice capture. Very sharp with nice colour.
The white is not over exposed. Good job. Is very hard to take cots without over exposure on the white part.
Very good captute of this cute Coot :)
Very good exposure and quality, the branches on the fron are little bit distracting but bearable.
You said that you took this picture with your new sigma and in the details you wrote 28-135 Canon by mistake.

Love the camera Pieter. You're gonna enjoy using it. Good shot! The black feathers are a bit hard to see in the shade from the reeds, but hse's nicely tucked away there. I'm looking forward to seeing more photos like this now. And a duck or two as well!
Cheers, Janice

Beautifully done, Pieter. You have captured a lot of detail in the black but maintained good balance in the exposure in the rst of the image. Very well done!

Great shot Pieter.
B/W birds are not easy to exposure right, but you handle the exposure wery good. Very good details in the black plumage.
Good composition and colours. The brances show how the Coot hide in the environs. The Sigma works fine.
Great work, my friend.

You certainly made very good use of your new equipment Pieter. Fine details in the feathers, eye is perfectly seen. Very well caught.
Hi Pieter
Mooi Bleshoender, the exposure on the plumage is well done. Even the white on the bill is not bad. The time of day was a bit against you, s 81A filter couold have helped to improve the overall lighting. Good in the environment pic,, but I would have liked to see a bit more space in front of the bill. Nothing one can do about the the reeds cutting thru' the boby. unless you wait til he moves his butt.

To my eye there is nothing wrong with this image. I take into account the color of the coot, and the lighting, so I believe that you have done well in this posting. Good work, and thank you. Will be looking forward to some baby coots?

Such a nice photo of the coot, Pieter. I find them very hard to expose correctly. I always burn the white part. Well done on this capture.

These are one of the most difficult bird to get good exposure on and you did just that - I take my hat off to you.
Very well done and thanks for posting

Beautifull capture of Coot, the black and white are superb, nice composition. Rasorsharp details i like the red eye !
You did a great work Pieter,
Congrats!
Christian
It's a fine specimen and you've captured it well. I know you like me to pick fault so I will....You should, of course, have found a POV whare the reeds weren't in the way, I'm sure you did try, but I thought I'd mention it. Oh, and the bottom of the bird looks a bit black to me ;) :D
Will I see any new posts to critique?
