[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On a lovely sunny sunday we went to the Zuid Kennemerland national park and made a nice long walk there. Our walk ended at this beach at Bloemendaal aan Zee, wich is part of the municipality Bloemendaal. It's in between the beaches of IJmuiden up North and Zandvoort down South.

Here's some info on the national park wich I looked up on the internet:

In the dunes of the province of Noord-Holland, between IJmuiden and Zandvoort, lies Zuid-Kennemerland National Park which encompasses an area of 3,800 hectares. The beach, the dunes on limey soil, the stately country houses and dune woodlands are an oasis for inhabitants of the busy Randstad urban conglomeration. Differences in soil type, latitude, climate and groundwater level have produced a wide variety of flora and fauna. The visitor centre is housed in an industrial monument in Overveen. This building, a pump house built in 1898 for the Haarlem Waterworks, has been beautifully restored and is now called ‘Duincentrum De Zandwaaier’.

Special flora: Grass-of-parnassus, orchids, sea holly, spindle tree, seaside pansy, viper’s buglos, and hollowroot on the country estates

What a beautiful place and lovely scenery this is Nel. I think this is one of the rare sunny landscapes I see from you :-) I like this composition a lot with excellent exposure, beautiful movement on the grass as we can feel the wind blowing. Those yellow wild flowers add a beautiful element in this great picture. I wish I was there :) Thanks,

wat een heerlijke 'hollandse'wolkenlucht hier. Heel herkenbaar, om dat ik jarenlang op texel heb gewoond.

Hallo Nel,

Je geeft met deze foto wel de wijdsheid aan van "onze" mooi kust. De bloemetjes in de groene zeereep fleuren het geheel op. Ze maskeren ook gelijk die vervelende paaltjes aan de rechterzijde. Mooie opname. Een paar weken geleden was ik met de fiets richting Zandvoort en kon in diezelfde duinen een vos fotograferen. Zal ik binnenkort wel posten. Terug naar jouw foto. Zijn toch ongevenaard die Hollandse luchten. Natuurlijke kleuren. Mooi compositie, die wijdsheid van de zee die dan toch begrensd wordt d.m.v. de kromming in onze kustlijn. Heel mooi. Ik mag dit wel. What a nice long stretch of sandy beach. I like all the triangular shapes ( both grass areas, the path, the sandy shore and the sea.) A couple of things that I notice are the centered horizon line and the prominence of midtones. Part of the problem is viewing it in TN. When I drag the image to my desktop it is more saturated. I would have liked to have seen some of those nice yellow flowers closer in the foreground as a focal point. I did a workshop... All just personal opinion of course : )

Deze foto is genomen met een hele mooie compositie...
Het gras op de voorgrond met het schuin weglopende pad naar het strand toe met een prachtige wolkenpartij boven de zee.
Leuke bonus zijn de gele bloemen in het gras.
Goed gedaan.

Hi Nel,
this view is remarkably similar to some of the coast in my part of the world! I like the way the path on the left draws the eye easily into the scene and the long grasses add some nice texture. The small yellow flowers add colour in just the right amount. I think i agree with Evelynn about the centred horizon, but aside from that this is a really nice shot with lovely atmosphere...very well done indeed!
