De Vlaamse gaai is een van mijn favoriete vogels, prachtige veren, de enige die ik in Nederland ken met blauw in de veren. De IJsvogel, die uiteraard ook blauw is, heb ik helaas nog nooit gezien. Grappige is dat hij of zij een klein takje in zijn bek heeft, waardoor het lijkt alsof het een sigaar is..

Hoi Olger! Afgelopen weekeind zag ik voor het eerst van mijn leven een Vlaamse Gaai in onze tuin (we hebben twee katten er komen uberhaupt weinig vogels in de tuin), ik heb zelfs zelden een Vlaamse Gaai in Enkhuizen gezien. Op het moment dat ik wilde schiten, vloog ie weg ... Echt toevallig dat jij er een paar dagen later 1 hebt vastgelegd! :) Het is een mooie foto, grappige pose en goede kleuren. Alleen jammer van de ruis op de achtergrond. Heb je hem erg opgeblazen of komt het door "sharpen" in PS?

This branch is probably a construction material for its nest. Well done on the capture. Good POV.

Nice shot Olger.
I like this birds very much, so one point just for the subject.
The POV and focus are good, but I would maybe change a composition a bit. It would be also nice to make the colours more intensive.
Anyway, the photo is good and I like it.
Well done!

Many times in nature, you have to take the shot despite the obstacles, as you do not know if and when you will get another opportunity.
I think that this is one of those shots, and I for one am glad that you made such exceptional use of your chance. Great composition, detail, lighting and luck. Interesting title and note as well.
