I found this prairiedog-image in my archives and wanted to share it with you. I like the pose on this furry friend of mine :-)
Taken in October at the Blijdorp Zoo in Rotterdam.

Some facts and fiction about prairiedogs from the internet:

MYTH: Prairie Dogs Multiply Like Rabbits
In reality, black-tailed prairie dogs have a low rate of reproduction compared with other small mammals. They breed only once a year, and the average litter size is three to four pups.

MYTH: Prairie Dogs and Cattle Can't Coexist
Contrary to what many farmers, ranchers and the livestock industry assert, prairie dogs and cattle have a mutually beneficial relationship. Prairie dogs improve the forage for cattle, and cattle grazing allows prairie dog colonies to expand in mid-grass prairie. Both cattle and prairie dogs have demonstrated a preference for grazing together, just as bison and prairie dogs have historically preferred each other's company.

Hi Nel,
what a great shot, extremely high cute factor! Perfect DOF and a lovely colour to his (her??) fluffy fur, i like the pose with blade of grass in those tiny paws. Good work, very nice indeed.

You managed to catch so nice creature. I like its attractive pose, excellent reproduction of the face expression and its "costume". I also like soft light and delicate pleasant to eyes colour palette. Well done and TFS.

How cute!!!
What a lovely creature this prairie dog! I think it has big hands and feet for a rodent and that makes it rather funny, besides the face, hi,hi.
It's a great picture with splendid sharpness and very good details. I love it!
