Finally the weather changed for the better. In the past couple of days I've seen the sun again and got proof that the sky is still blue.

It all meant that I had to go out again and enjoy nature. Something I really needed after all these hectic days at work. I decided to go to a new area. New, since I haven't been there before. And new, since this piece of nature only exist for two years. This are used to be an agricultural area with only a small creek slowly running through it. Two years ago they decided to give it back to nature. They've dammed parts of the creek and gave the water the freedom to develop a haven for birds and other small wildlive. There is even a herd of Scotish Highlanders roaming around. My current map and Google Earth still need to be updated to show this new piece of Nature.

Before I forget. The weather was still rather unpredictable. I drove away from home with sun. I arrived at this location in the snow. I had to wait about half an hour to get to this sunny situation.

Hi Niek

This looks just like a Dutch landscape painting - hardly surprising I suppose :). Great composition, great liquid light and I really like the way the cloud echoes the form of the tree.

Hi Niek, this is a very dramatic scene. Those clouds and dark silhouettes give it an awesome look. And the blue sky brightens it all up so nicely - well done

Hi Niek,
i've been looking at this for quite a while, it's mesmerising, it's like looking at a painting, as James says. The light in the clouds is perfect, as is the composition. Did you try any other POV's of this spot? I'd love to see them if you did. Glad to see you've managed to get at last out too, you certainly made the most of it.
tfs,
Paul

Extraordinary landscape shot. Nothing short of perfect.

Hi Niek,
I don't look at landscapes so much, but this one is a Brueghel ! You got it all, mood, phantastic composition, magic moment, clouds, the contre-jour. My congratulations.
Best regards
Dietrich

Hi Niek

Nice to see you going out and taking something new again and very nice to hear that the kind people there are giving some territory back to mother-nature :)
This looks like a very beautiful place, one you should definitely visit more once the warm season comes ;)

The landscape looks great, with those wonderful fluffy clouds reigning on top of the land. The main tree here looks terrific, too and in superbly positioned in the frame. The exposure is well handled and the colors are also lovely.
However, i can't help wondering if you would have gone a bit more to the right - to get a bigger reflection for the tree and to exclude the dark corner from the right...but as i read in your reply to Paul, i guess this is what you had to work with...anyway, it's a charming result for a first visit!

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Hello Niek,
A beautiful landscape, though different from what I'm used to!
The composition is well balanced with the fine old tree, the naked branches come out sharp against the sky...
I notice the lovely light!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hallo Niek,

Alle weertypes heb je meegemaakt. Lijkt wel Holland. Ondanks dat heb je een dramatisch ogend landschap neergezet. Wat een kleurenspel. Zitten een heleboel elementen in verwerkt. Reflectie, schaduwwerking, lijnenspel, eigenlijk alles. Mooi plaatje. Klasse werk. Prettige dag en tot TFS BOB

Hi Niek,
It's a beautiful photo... Landscape is lovely and you captured this great scenery with very good POV, composition and exposure control. Well done and TFS
Best wishes,

Hello Niek
This scene is so rich of silhouettes and colour..A hard thing to combine but you have pulled it off perfectly..It almost reminds me of a John Constable painting from the depths of Suffolk...Great work and TFS

Hi Niek.
It is simply great landscape picture. The pictured scene is amazing. The cloudy sky, lights, shadows, crystal details and sharpness of the image, excellent POV create a strong esthetic impression. My greetings and TFS.
Alexei.

Hi Niek,

Now you are back in action and I am not.. really. I have dozens of photos but none ready to post. This one of yours is probably the only post I'll get to today. I'm still working on my &%#! project for the university. I complained that I've put in a hundred hours on it and Jerry laughed and said.... "you've put in at least double that!" No wonder I am tired. It isn't near done yet. Of course right in the middle I got a new computer and monitor and operating system so my poor little brain is having a hard time keeping up. Your dad was right to get the MacPro for his video work. The new iMac display is USELESS for any serious photo work. I ended up having to get the MacPro also.

So you actually saw blue sky????????? What was it like??? I bet it was beautiful... I can't remember : ) We have had three times normal precipitation this year! We get rain but just east of here there is so much snow that the snowshoe areas are inaccessible... and there hasn't been a good enough weather day in weeks.

I do like your moody image with that wonderful sunlit cloud. It is so like a classic Dutch painting. The tree and its reflection are also lovely. I did a quick workshop because I love the tree, reflection and foreground grasses and wanted to see how it would look if that area were more of a focal point than the cloud.... just an experiment.

Glad you are back in action... I'll be back soon, I hope.

TFS
Evelynn : )

Hi Niek!

This is an absolute beauty! Niek, I like this picture very much It's so powerful, so full of light and shadow, so vivid and inspiring. It's incredible, you were able to express both the dramatic aspect of nature and the calm and romantic side as well in one picture.

Well seen, well done!

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Niek,

I can't add to the others comments, suffice to say it's an image that evokes something a bit different in every viewer..
Beautiful work!!

Hello Niek,
Supurb landscape that is just like an old painting! Great composition where you've really caught the light very well. Beautiful silhouette of the tree and impressive cloud formations. Beautiful reflections in the water too. It must be a good place for birds.
Many thanks, Ulla

hele fraaie foto hier Niek,
prachtige compositie, uitstekende lichtval. dit zijn foto's waar ik me ook altijd wel in weet te vinden. goed fotowerk.
groet Jaap

Hello Niek!
This is a very nice composition! I like natural and delicate light, very nice contrast and water reflection. The picture has something very important as for me - a character :)
You showed that even "simple composition" can be wonderful and unusual. I like it a lot :)
Best greetings,
Radomir

PS. Many thanks for so kind words to my picture from Meteora :) You are right, the sun was very strong (in was taken some 11 a.m.), and only polarized filter helped to keep blue sky and contrast :)
