Wonderful backlight on the geese in flight. I would be tempted to remove the two on the right side, leaving more emphasis on the one just left of centre. Well seen thanks for sharing.

Hallo Niek,
Groeten Bob

Hello Niek, I have never seen your gallery before and it is filled with wonderful photographs from a skilled photographer. This picture here is fantastic, because of the light falling on the birds and lighting the eddges of their wings. I love the dark brown background that makes us feel it is not spring yet. Beautiful layered composition with nice movement of the geese. I couldn't tell either what species they are, they look like giant mallards ;-) thank you,
Francine

There is something about this image that is very appealing. It has to do with the unusual sepia tones, the light ,and subject. I really like the subtle texture of the trees in the background. I would have leveled the waterline... whether or not it was accurate. It would just "fee"l better to me. I tried it, and the trees still felt vertical. I would not recommend that particular lens. It just isn't as sharp as the Canon 70-300. I had a 70 -300 and gave it to my nephew when I got the 100-400. I think he has since lost interest in photography! AAGGHH!

Hello Niek,
I think the Scandinavian Canada geese mostly spend the winter in your area!
This is an artistic capture, where the backlight from a low angle adds interest value...
And those guys are happy as long as they find ice free waters!

Hi Niek
A very nice view over this beautiful natural place...and also nice to see some inhabitants :)
It's actually a very difficult shot - against the sun - but the effect it resulted in is really beautiful; i love all the little sparkles from the water as well as the almost backlight on the birds.
You really know how to produce some very nice photos with a telephoto, too...:) I don't think i've seen "many" in-flights from you, so i would definitely call this one a great success in that matter, too.
All-in-all: a lovely shot, my friend...but i really don't know about the frame...
I also read Evelynn's critique (very important as usual); i don't think i agree with the leveling of the water (the grass and trees need to be vertical and the rest is perspective) but i did read the same about the 70-300 and the 75-300. The 70-one is newer and better...but why do i feel like you already know that ;)
I was also hoping she gave her opinion on the frame...but it might be just me then...
Anyway, nice work my friend
Bravo and TFS

Hi Niek
This looks very much like the Ouse Washes near here, I do not think these are Canada Geese as they have pale orange feet and white tails (Canada Geese have black legs and black tails) - I have looked them up and the possibilities are; Bean Goose, Pink Footed Goose (though the ones here flew north over a week ago), White Fronted or Greylag. I am no way an expert but would guess Bean Goose.
Anyway nice shot.

Hi Niek,
a kind of landscape/wildlife cross over shot! The light in my opinion is very nice, providing some great atmosphere and strange, almost chocalatey browns. I think the horizon is a victim of perspective too, an effect i have noticed a few of my own shots. My only minor nit would be that you've lost the heads of the ducks in the water amongst the shadows...however, i do think the bird in flight on the left looks incredible...thanks for sharing this one, it has a very creative feel to it.

Hi Niek!
Don't be too severe with you and your picture! I personally like it very much, especially for the very beautiful interplay of light and shadow and for the overall atmosphere. This atmosphere is very special and outstanding, I don't know exactly why, maybe because of the color tones in brown and green and the effect provided by the position of the sun. As far as I'm concerned, I don't look at the birds as principal subjects of the picture, but more as a part of the whole that pleases to me.
Kind regards
Markus

Hola Niek.
Otra muy hermosa foto. Muy agradables colores y finos tonos de luz. Los patos le dan a esta imagen un valor adicional.
Saludos My friend
