Adela reaumurella male

The Green Longhorn is a day active lepidoptera from the family Adelidae, the fairy long horn moths. The wingspan of the moth ranges from 14 to 18 millimeter.
The upper wings of both genders are metallic green, the under wings are metallic bronze. The males have very long antennas that are white. They have rough black hair on their heads. The females have relatively short antennas with shorter and lighter hair on their heads.

The flight time ranges from April to June.

The caterpillars live on lear remains.

Hi Marie,

Just marking up and will get back later...

Pekka

The antennae of this Moth seem to be three times longer than its actual body, Marie.
A great capture in which you had to keep the body small to give a full picture of the insect including its antennae.
The image is sharp with very good details and colours.
TFS and regards.

Hello Mariki,
Another nice macro from you: this time of a Green Longhorn micro. Great composition with fine contrast against the leaf and showing the long antennae very well and the little moth itself is well presented.
TFS this fine image,
Have a nice weekend,
Ivan

Bonjour Marie Christine,
Catherine
