Ischnura pumilio / Scarce Blue-tailed Damselfly / Kleine Pechlibelle / Tengere grasjuffer / Agrion nain.
Widespread but very localised. The smallest of the Irish damselflies. A delicate species which stays close to water. Adults have been recorded from mid May to September. Found in shallow seepages, often at altitude, either in natural situations such as flushes and springs or in artificial habitats such as quarries. It can also be found on the margins of large limestone lakes. Also has a pronounced tendency to wander and individuals can turn up well away from breeding sites, so allowing it to colonise new sites. Colonies are often short-lived, as the species is prone to disappear when seepages become well-vegetated.
Males of this species are similar to males of the commoner Blue-tailed Damselfly Ischnura elegans and positive identification requires examination in the hand. In males of the Scarce Blue-tail the blue on the tail covers all of segment 9 and the posterior part of segment 8 whereas in the Blue-tail it is confined to segment 8.
KEY IDENTIFICATION FEATURES
mainly black with blue confined to last quarter of segment 8 and all of segment 9
pterostigma are short and bicoloured
Immature females are bright orange (form aurantiaca) mature females have greenish thorax and black abdomen
immature females are bright orange on head, thorax and front of the abdomen

Die Kleine Pechlibelle (Ischnura pumilio) ist eine Libelle aus der Familie der Schlanklibellen.
Merkmale:
Die Kleine Pechlibelle ist knapp 3 cm lang und hat eine Flügelspannweite von 3,5 cm. Sie ist der Großen Pechlibelle sehr ähnlich. Diese Libelle kann sich von Rot-Orange zu Hell- oder Olivgrün umfärben. Die Männchen erkennt man an einem schwarz-weißen Flügelmal.
Lebensraum:
Diese Art zählt zu den Erstbesiedlern stehender Gewässer. Ideal sind diese, wenn sie flach sind und eine üppige Vegetation aufweisen. Sie kommt in Europa inselartig vor und fehlt im Norden ganz. Im Osten findet man sie von Kleinasien bis nach Sibirien.
Häufigkeit:
Unregelmäßig, in Mitteleuropa nur an wenigen Stellen häufig. Es handelt sich um eine bedrohte Art.
Fortpflanzung:
Die Flugzeit ist von Ende Mai bis Anfang September. Paarung und Eiablage geschieht wie bei der Großen Pechlibelle. Im Süden gibt es teilweise pro Jahr zwei Generationen. Die Flugzeit wird durch Schlechtwetterperioden oft negativ beeinflusst.
