Harmonia axyridis

I know that is quite a common picture but I was amazed by the number of ladybird bettles laying eggs this particular day. So many eggs on every tree! I do not know if all these eggs will give larvae and aduts. I do think that most of them will be eaten by birds and other insects. We will see if we have ladybird bettles invasion in few weeks.

Hi Marie,

Interesting photo with the ladybird laying the egs. Nice contrast between the rounded shape of the insect and the shape of the egs. It has been a good moment to do the photo.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Hi Marie Christine,
a significant picture it is, Harmonia with all the eggs. Thanks for posting it. As a matter of fact it is an invasive species originating from Asia. It spreads right now rapidly into many parts of Europe and theatens (possibly) the existence of indigenous ladybug species. One immediate concern is winemaking: the Harmonia ladybugs congregate in numbers on open grapes and give a bad taste to wine.
Best regards
Dietrich

hi Marie Christine,
very, very nice image of this little insect so busy with its eggs, interesting note too, thank you
kind regards
franco

Hi Marie!
As the DOF is not perfect this time, today points are mainly for special moment you documented :) It will be nice to hear if the "invasion" will appear or not :) I believe - just like you noted - that most of eggs/larvae will be eaten by birds or insects (probably also some ladybirds).
All the best and have a nice weekend!
Friendly yours,
Radomir

salut Marie,

Saludos

Hello Marie,
I really liked the comp. and also it is a really uncommon one for me. It is really meaningful for today because it is Mother's day today in Northern Cyprus. Despite the workshop is misty I liked it more because it is more detailed:) ( happy mother's day)
Have a nice weekend
Best Regards
Gamze:)

Hallo Marie,
