The picture was taken during an overcast day. The light was very poor, but as this fly has a metallic colour I did not want to use the flash. I use a quite long exposure time and ISO 200. I had to reduce the electronic noise with Neat Image.

Hi Mariki, splendid fly with fantastic colors, fine details and wonderful sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Seems a little bit soft. I think with a little help of flash would bring out more of the DOF.
TFS
Best regards,
Kean

This Fly has a very distinct colouring on eyes, thorax and even wings, Marie.
However, it is the green metallic sheen on the thorax that lends is special beauty.
Very well captured macro and aesthetically composed on a green leaf.
TFS and regards.

Hello Marie, nice macro from the wapenvlieg.
Mooi die gekleurde bult achter zijn hoofd.
Mooi zo op dat blad en dan die wazige achtergrond.

Hi Mariki,

That's a really interesting-looking fly, the thorax is almost mirror-like. The huge eyes and whitish beard give it a rather whimsical look. Nice composition, just the slightest touch on the soft side, but not bad, especially if you hand-held the camera. A tripod helps with sharpness on photos like that, although maneuvering it into position while chasing a jumpy insect can be very frustrating.

Thanks,
John

Hi Marie,
With an expert like you around i think most of us can easily get the ID for many of these little wonders of nature. I have a cpature which is quite similar, may be i should mail it to you to get the right ID.

This is a really nice presentation showing the details and in its very natural habitat. The colours on the fly is so wonderful isnt it. I see a brush like part infront of its head...wonder what is that !!!

Thanks for sharing and cheers

Bonjour Marie-Christine,
Anne

Hello Marie Christine

A beautiful capture of this fly.
The shiny body is wonderful and I think I see reflections in it.
Excellent sharpness and details. The focus is spot on.
Very good POV and DOF.

Hola Marie
Excelente colorido.
Saludos
Jacobo
