Hi Niek,
It is wonderful to hear from you after a long time. We somehow lost touch.
You know I am a big fan of your very original landscape pictures.
To tell you a story, I went in for a 18-200mm lens recently to emulate you at landscape photography. Unfortunately, monsoon rains have arrived here far ahead of their schedule and my plans to go to the Himalayas to shoot some mountainscapes with it are literally washed out.
In the plains here, nothing is near the grandness of view you have shown in your picture today.
I love the touch of a rainbow in this lovely capture and also that tree in the foreground.

Hi Niek,
Fantastic light in this image, very atmospheric. Good rich colours too and great detail, huge depth of field. A classic example of the rule of thirds, nice work.

Wow Niek, this is superb, simply fantastic! You were right, Mother Nature gifted you that evening. I just love the contrasts between the grey sky, the golden grass and the beautiful green tree filled with light. The rainbow is the "cherry on top of the sundae" ;-)) In French we have the exact same proverb as yours: après la pluie le beau temps. The moment of this picture reflects the mixture of weather that comes just before the beautiful sun shines... great and thank you!

Wat een schitterende(dramatische) opname. Dat lage licht over die boom en de heide. De wolkenpartijen, de mistige achtergrond en een stukje regenboog. Mooi frame.

Hi Niek!

I bet you'd never been able to take such a beautiful picture under good weather conditions. That's why I don't like to use the term of "bad" weather. Here, the light conditions - and therefore the intensity of the colours - are just superb, certainly due to the special meteorogical conditions. If you add a perfect composition and an effective and soft postprocessing, you get a delightful picture as this one!

Hi,
Most of my visit to Netherlands last year was spent in Amsterdam and once in a while Thijs(Pentaxfriend) and Rene used to drive me through the country side and i loved those landscapes. Your picture brings me back those memories and thanks a lot for that. The picture itself is pleasant with tree well placed in the frame and a gloden hue added to it.

Simple but very very beautiful! Sometimes this is the kind of composition one needs to aim for.

The warm light after the rain is indeed a splendid time for shooting and you did great to come here and expliot it.
The little rainbow over the horizin is indeed a great bonus for this shot. Initially i was a bit sad it wasn't bigger, but then i thought it would have taken away the attention from the amazing clouds in the sky - deviding just a little bit so that we can see a small patch of blue sky.
All-in all is a superb shot and a great presentation!

very well chosen POV with some strong, rich earthy colours. The cloudy sky and slice of rainbow have really added something special here too, well seen. Hope you have more luck with the weather soon!

I do not know what to say here, because all i can say is good things...And you don't like that a lot, from what you write in your intro!So let me give this a different perspective, I love this shot for the composition, but I keep wondering, as i look at this shot, what if the light was better, say we had bright sunshine(the 12 o'clock sun) right above this tree, and you'd captured this shot in B/W from a slightly greater distance?
I'd love to see such a shot, if this tree is near your house, could you please try it?This is a lovely tree.

Gee, I had a whole month to critique this one and missed it! It is really super Niek. I love the light on the tree. You captured every leaf! I also like the colors and textures in the foreground grasses?/heather?. It is a really nice image and presentation. I like it a lot.

You're right Niek, 'after rain comes sunshine' - but here in NZ it also means 'after sunshine comes rain'. . . After weeks of rain and storms, we've had a few sunny days - and guess what? Yes, the rain is back!!

This is a lovely scene with the end of the rainbow out there at sea. And I love the light on the leaves of the tree - well done

Hi Niek,

This nature looks really endlessly wild and living near the densly populated Randstad I can hardly believe that these are the Netherlands :). The light and the colors are splendid and provide a powerful focus to your picture. It is also interesting to read about the 'making of ...' the photo in the notes. It is 'niet voor niks' that the often dramatic weather condition always have played a great role in the paintings and photographs of this region.
