Status :
inheemsMiddelgrote zweefvlieg met op het achterlijf kommavormige gele vlekken op een zwarte ondergrond. Deze gele vlekken bereiken de zijrand van het achterlijf niet, deze zijnaad blijft dus zwart.
Het is een vrij algemene soort die overal gevonden kan worden. De eerste generatie verschijnt al vroeg in het jaar. De larven leven van bladluizen.

Uiterlijk imago
Borststuk: Borststuk glimmend zwart.
Achterlijf: Achterlijf met gele, kommavormige vlekken die de zijrand van het achterlijf niet bereiken.
Achterlijf: Buik van het achterlijf geel met grote, rechthoekige zwarte vlekken, vlek op buiksegment 4 ook groot en rechthoekig.

Hello Thijs,
I must compliment you for this fantastic picture of a Hoverfly you have captured in flight and that too at 1/125.
The focus on the eyes is unbelievable.
Add to it the clarity and details and this image turns into a masterpiece of its own kind.
