In a small private reserve, in the neighbourhood of where I live, I take these photo.

Identification
The Reed Warbler, acrocephalus scirpaceus, can be found almost exclusively in reedbeds during the breeding season. There are several other plain brown warblers which might also be found in or near reedbeds, however. The Reed Warbler lacks the broader tails and clearer eyestripes of Savi’s and Cetti’s Warblers and the impressive size of a Great Reed Warbler. This leaves Marsh and Blyth’s Reed Warbler which are exceptionally difficult to separate from Reed Warbler but far less likely to be seen in reedbeds.

Habitat
Breeds almost exclusively in reedbeds.

Distribution
A common summer visitor to southern and central England and East Anglia, but more local in Wales, north and south-west England. Rare in Scotland. Breeds mostly in reedbeds but can be seen in other habitats on passage.

One of the commonest birds of reedbeds throughout Europe.

Population
40 000-80 000 breeding pairs across south east England and Wales. A few more from Scotland and Ireland’s east coast (probably 40-50 singing males).
About 3 million breeding pairs mostly in northern Europe with more disjunct populations throughout southern Europe. Particularly large numbers occur in Romania.

Hi Peter,

It's wonderful to get a photo of a Warbler caught in the midst of a song. I assume he is as small as the Warblers we have here. I love the face, eye and beak and my eye doesn't want to travel further than that. But it did - and the entire shot is lovely.

Hallo Peter,

Mooi plaatje. Groeten Bob

That is a lovely post, Peter. I like the bright light coming onto the bird while the background is totally white. I like seeing only the silhouetted branches against that light background with the bird singing and looking so unified with its environment. Great shot, thank you!

Hallo Peter
Great stuff. Lovely close-up. Like the angle in which you have photographed the bird. From below as well as from the side. Different to the usual pose. I like the wide open beak and marble round black eye. Thanks for sharing image as well as information. Kind regards.
Anna

I love these shots where the birds have their beaks open, as if singing or complaining!
Very well done, Peter!

Hi Peter!

Hard to capture bird, but low POV isn't bad. Good moment and pose with opened beak - I almost hear warbler's song :-)

Splendida cattura, eccellenti POV e composizione per la bellissima posa canora, ottima definizione, perfetta esposizione con una resa brillante dei colori anche con le difficoltà di luce. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hello Peter,
I can see that this is a Reed Warbler, even though the angle, that it is in an alder tree and POV is unusual.
Nevertheless this is a sharp and well exposed image and set in a fine composition.
TFS this interesting fine image,
Ivan

Hallo Peter,

Goede compositie maar de aachtergrond vind ik niet erg mooi.
Is dit de fitis?
Vogeltje staat er wel weer goed scherp en gedetaileed op.

Nice calling out shot of the reed warbler, Peter.

These must be a fine set of little birds to see and photograph.
A nice image showing the warbler with its opne beak suggesting its calling out or singing.I cna imagine how you would have had to go for this PoV.This is also perhaps the firs time i am seeing the reed warbler sitting on the tree! I wonder whether you too were surprised to find the bird atop a tree.

Despite this difficult Pov and the tricky plain skies as Bg, you manged to light up the bird well and show its details and that too with a catchlight in its eye.Very well done.

TFS & Cheers
