Choose photo I like the colours, I probably would have removed the damaged fungi, leaf litter and repositioned the camera.
Hi Gerard. It might have been a good idea to use a reflector here to bounce light onto the right side of the fungi or to zoom in closer so as to reduce the light range the camera has to deal with. As it stands I'd crop a bit to either side of the fungi. Having said that, you've spotted a very interesting subject and made good use of it. You have good sharpness on the central fungus, the colours are good and your composition is great. Good job, TFS :)
Very attractive image, but I feel you have let the subject down. The POV is great, really show the curvy form of the stem. But the shot is spoilt by the bright background on the left. You have also cut the top off. I think you would have been better moving yourself around to the left a bit and taking a vertical shot. Perhaps moving to the other side of the fungi with the light behind you would have been good (but you may not have been able to do that). Anyway, its a very subject, its just the light is very distracting.
Go have a look at Felipe's gallery (extramundi), he has lots of great tips on how to capture brilliant fungi shots.
