Fine captures, both of them Maria, the overwing and antenna characteristics are easily discernible in these sharply focused macros, TFS them.

If I could clone off the stick perch, I could turn this image into an in-flight shot, Marie :)!
Well, it is a wonderful, open-wing image of the Painted Lady. The subject is effectively isolated from the BG. The focus is slightly soft at the lower end, but that is a minor nit.
The details and colours are superb.

A very nice capture of a Painted Lady taken from a fine open-wing POV with good sharpness and fine contrast against an OOF natural BG.
This species has not been that common in Sweden this year.

Bonjour Marie-Christine,
Contente de voir la Vanesse des chardons, car jusqu'à présent pas une sous le soleil ici. L'année dernière j'en avais vues pas mal, cet automne rien, malgré quelques jours de beaux. De même Vanessa atalanta est beaucoup plus rare que les autres années. Bonne présentation les ailes ouvertes, avec f/9-10 tu aurais peut-être pu atteindre encore un peu plus de netteté

Hello marie,

You have chosen a good POV to show the butterfly. Wings pattern and beautifull colors can be well seen. There is a fine match between insects colors and background. A wider DOF should have helped to increase the sharpness.
