Very attractive evening landscape with the light just enough to reflect the silhouettes of the trees and the reddening sky on the surface of placid water, Niek.
You have controlled the exposure very deftly in this rather difficult shot.

A very beautiful and interesting experiment here form you, my friend! I see that first Paul, then myself and now you have given Photomatix a first glimpse :) Should this mean it is Evelynn's turn now? :)

Anyway, this is a very nice and natural result for a HDR. I, too, tried to keep the tone mapping to the minimum when i gave it a go and i see you chose the same here. The result is a very well balanced exposure-wise image, with very good highlight and exceptional shadow details. I'm leaning more in favor of the shadow details here because of the nice textures and great sharpness of the FG.
The composition is also very nice and again the bank of the water - with its nice curve - leads the eye towards the beautiful tree silhouettes on the horizon and from then on to the small (but evident) clouds in the sky (at which the motion is well captured).
Overall, gorgeous work, my friend!

Hi niek

Nice shot, and very good use of photomatix. It looks very natural and you would never tell that it was a hdr shot.
Beautiful atmosphere makes me feel a little bit shivery just looking at it.

This is the first HDR Photomatix that I've seen that doesn't look overdone in some way. Nice work! I love that long sweeping curve and the detail in the foreground. The colors are wonderful.

This is a much cooler shot of the same scene, nicely done! I think I like this shot better vertical, you've done a good job on the HDR work, you can't even tell that it is an HDR image. Nicely done.

I can't be long, I'm at a winter camping in the Alps where I spend a week of holidays with ski hiking tours. The internet connection in the camping only works from time to time and is very slow.

Hallo Niek,

Ondanks (voorlopig) de laatste foto uit deze serie mag die er best wel wezen. De zon is onder en er blijft dan zo'n mooi plaatje over. Bijzondere POV. Ik heb de andere foto's er nog eens even bijgehaald en dit is toch ook wel een fijne hoek om vanuit te fotograferen. Was het niet erg koud??

Hi Niek

Another neat shot of your day in the Drents-Friese Park.
I like the composition and the way you split the 1/3 zones.
The triangle formed by the grassy shore which also acted as a lead-in to the shot.
The reflective water surface which resulted in a near triangle and has the interesting smooth area where most of the sunset is reflected.
And finally the multiple layered sky which occupied the top 1/3.
Good use of available light to present a well balanced image.

Hi Niek,
i wonder why you chose to use HDR here, as i think you could achieve the same result easily using more traditional methods. Anywhow, it is beautifully done, and the chosen POV creates massive depth. Colours, and sharpness are excellent throughout, well done.
