Hallo Niek,

Hi Niek,
yes ....nature has so much to offer in terms of arts. We have to search and you have found and seen this one.
Lovely pattern and textures. The clarity is expressed well through this design.
Lovely to look at.
Regards,
Foozi

Hi Niek!
Better to be couch potato for some time then ill like me already :-) With similiar weather conditions I went to park to photograph birds. After two hours in -5C degrees I ended with flu or something similiar.
Good art made by mother nature. Ice is very nice subject to photography, it almost always makes very interesting forms.

Dear Potato,
Did you know that in English those little spots where the roots grow on a potato are called "eyes"? So even in your supine lethargic state your EYES are still at work. Oh EE I know you can't help it... it is in your genes!! : )
This is a nice abstract Niek. I really like the curves, and as you mentioned, the diagonals. It's funny that when I go to the gallery I try to see if I can identify the photographers without looking at the names. Because you had critiqued my image I suspected you had posted one too. I thought there was none from you on the first page but my eye immediately was attracted to this image. It was the first one I was drawn too and was happily surprised that it was yours! I normally associate you with the broader landscape.
If it weren't for the archives and a rare ice storm I too would have nothing to shoot/post this time of year!
Evelynn : )
PS
Just remember that you are NOT being lazy... you are developing powerful muscles that will allow you to sit/lie for long periods of time without tiring! (joke! **smile**)

Hello Niek,
I can imagine how brittle this ice is from looking at this! An excellent composition showing a beautiful pattern and nice diagonals. Lovely colours too!

Hi Niek
We had that weather before Christmas and it really doesn't inspire you. I hope you get some clear days with frost soon. I love this close up, I always find the shapes and textures of frozen water fascinating. Nice macros work here and well framed.

Hi Niek!
I guess you imagine how much I love pictures of that kind. Frozen art, a magical subject. I love the shapes, lines and colours created by the ice as well as the artistic and abstract effect. Maybe that a larger depth of field would add to the value of the picture, but this is personal.
Kind regards
Markus

Hi Niek
The weather is exactly the same here, too :( Such a pity :(
However, this is another excellent abstract from you, my friend and it's great that you've posted it. I had something like this in mind few days ago but couldn't find anything interesting around here.
The texture and natural contrast here are absolutely outstanding, with the air pockets creating these little highways between them. You did well to close-in on the scene and to take care in not including an entire pocket in the frame...this makes for a more mysterious shot.
The composition is spot-on - with the two parallel diagonal lines and the exposure is simply spot-on!
Bravo and TFS

Hello Niek !
Nature is the greatest of all the artists, and you have very skillfully captured her work to show it to us. I have seen such things many times these last days (it's freezing cold in France, too) but never thought of taking a picture of it. It's a beautiful abstract picture, which you have nicely composed. Very well done !
Valerie.

Hi Niek, Happy New Year.
A very artistic capture of ice. I too like the diagonal lines that run through the ice. And also the way the ice is dark underneath which brings out more interesting textures and shadows. I see a whale shape in the ice (middle left hand side) with eyes and a mouth.
Best wishes in 2009 Niek, I hope there are many wonderful photo opportunities for you.
Cheers
Janice

Hallo Niek,
Abstracte foto van het ijs.
Goed gezien en mooi vastgelegd.
Prachtig al die details in het ijs.
Misschien komen we elkaar wel eens tegen in de natuur.
