Hi Sabine. Now this is what i call a close up of this unusual bird. Yes you can see it comes from the Kingfisher family. You have taken this with excellent detail and natural colours. I lik the light in the large eye. well done TFS.

I see you've got a new camera ;) Congrats and i hope it will bring you many lovely photos. I've read some very nice reviews about that model.
This is a lovely shot taken with it.
The kingfisher is presented here with loads of excellent details and from a very good close-up level.
The natural colors of this bird stand out well and the overall exposure is well managed, too.
There is a little bit of a noise here and there, but that is to be expected from a compact camera with a higher ISO.
Anyway, nice work.

Lovely shot of the Kookaburra. Thye can be so noisy - we stayed in a house in the country in Queensland, Aust, and one woke us up so early - what a noise!!

little by little with beautiful photographys like yours
i start to love portrait photos of birds,

very beautiful portrait photography of this bird,
shot with fine POV, superb focus on the bird,
great sharpness and details of its plumage,
beautiful off focus blurred background,
i wen to see your camera and it is a point & shoot / bridge
and your photography has the same excellent composition
as a DSLR, you managed superbly your camera,
and to finnish i love the expression on the galnce of this bird,
