Yeah Jaap, you are right - very common butterfly but still very pretty. And very, very hard to capture. These insects seems to be alvays on the move and even when they sit almost always close their wings. Very nice capture my friend, we can see inner and outer side of wings which are quite different. DOF and sharpness are good, you've got nice light so colours are bright and saturated. Very nice work here!

Excellent detail and DOF, nicely plain BG to focus on the main subject. Composition does not work for me though. The shadowed wing in front is emphasized by the brilliant blue one behind, which makes it look a bit flat, takes away the 3D. The brilliant blue wingtip and the eye of the butterfly both are natural eyecatchers, and they both compete for attention. I don't know where to look!
Still it is a good shot, and I really like the body hair of this butterfly which really comes out in all its fluffy detail.

Very nice shot! I like much the blue of the butterfly which is very quite enlightened on this photograph. The details are very sharp, put aside the top of the wing of the foreground, but that does not waste the quality of the unit.

I think we have these butterflies here in NZ in summer too Jaap, so I will be looking out for them. We are very short on B'flies here and hardly seem to see any.
This is such a good shot and the irridescent blue of the wings just peaking out is beautiful. Her body is so sharp and the blue hairs stand out so well Marvellous shot.
