Sympetrum striolatum

Mostly they live generally in shallow waters. It is a fast colonizer of ponds and little lakes. They will fly large distances. They are frequently to find in grass countries. They hunt from observation posts on small insects. Pubescent males sit along the water side.

The copulation of this sort takes place at the plants at the shore. The whole copulation takes place in about 15 minutes. Afterwards the couple leaves as a tandem, to water. The female lays the eggs on the water. The eggs come in 3-6 weeks to development, It defence of the water temperature. The larvae live on the floor and between the water plants. The head food is mosquito larvae. The life cycle lasts a year. This type of dragonflies flies a lot of km. There its data confessed of swarm of millions dragonflies, seen on full sea. The type is in the countries surrounding, everywhere present.

I hope I have now the right specie. This was for me an experimental shot. Going for composition, going for the backlight effect, looking through that laughing face. I hope you like the shot.

Jaap,!!!!!!!!!
ya-mon, excellent capture and well viewed. the approach is a really good one. The sky with clouds, what a bonus.!!!!! Just right in my opinion.
Again, you have limited DOF and just missed the wing tip on right, but looks just fine, nothing to worry about, excellent work.

Mike

Very good macro, Jaap.
I like it very much. Good details, nice colours and very good DOF. This is the type of picture you could use a fill-in flash.
Very well done, my friend.

*POV:5, I can't argue about that. Excellent!

*DOF:3, F8 is just not enough for macrophotography.

*Composition:5, The all important eyes are somewhat in the middle of the frame and the overall composition is just pleasant.

*Details:3, Focus on some of the details seems a wee bit soft to me and there is some bg noise I believe.

*Exposure:4, Exposure is great although I do find the very bright, white cloud a little distracting.

*Colors:4, All colors look very natural.

*Note:4, Always good enough from your hand. I would have liked to know some more details about where you found this specific Darter. I just never see them when I look for them! Where do you find them exactly?

*X-factor:4, Nothing extremely special, but because of the experimental shot very enjoyable nevertheless.

Hallo Jaap,

John

Hi Jaap!
Little soft in focus but still good. I like composition with diagonal border line between blu sky and green trees. Pose of dragonfly is very good.

Hello Jaap!
Very nice capture.I liked perspective,DOF you managed and POV very much.TFS...:-)

Nice shot Jaap!
I think you had very good idea for this photo. The POV is perfect, DOF really good, but I'm not really sure about the composition - I have feeling there's something wrong with it.
The quality isn't very good and the busy BG makes the photo a bit unclear.
I'm sorry if I've been a bit to tough with the critique, but I decided to be a bit more objective now. I hope you don't mind.
Anyway, the photo is interesting and it was a good job.
TFS

Hello Jaap, Wonderful approach including this great view of the clouds and sky, dividing the BG diagonally..Great details and colors, I like it, Well done!

Jaap, this a very nice capture.

Pov showing a part of the sky is great. I like composition too. I guess light conditions were tricky, but I think you did great.

Hi Jaap!
Personal assessment of the photo: great.
Strong visual impact.
A not easy shot. Against a light BG, I think that you have could use fill flash.
Aptness of the photo for the site: excellent.
Personal assessment of the note: complete.
TFS.
Have a good weekend!

Hi Jaap,
Very good composition and depth of field, great colour.
TFS!

Hi Jaap,

I had a look at your other pictures tto. Thos one is also amazing. Very good.

But I think it is also helpfull when you focus on the things to improve although it is a very strong picture. I made for toy a workshop and am curius to hear from you. here

Hendrik

Great photo. DOF isn't perfect, but the unusual POV makes up for it.
Very well done!
