The flash caused harsh lighting and blow outs, a flash diffuser will help reduce it.

Dag Jaap,
Met een flits is alles wel klaarder maar, op de blaadjes is dit misschien te zien, ik ben bijna overtuigd dat het zonder flits zeker ook zal lukken, maar nog nooit heb ik zo een helder beeld gezien van dergelijke libelle, misschien komt het door het statief. Beste Jaap ik ben er tot op heden niet ingeslaagd om dergelijk beeld te nemen, ik blijf zoeken!
Laat ze maar komen dat geniet ik oprecht mee, of ik ze zelf genomen heb.

I also were on holidays for one week - in Italy I had the great luck to see such a red dragonfly like yours. But mine was very shy and don't let me come so near.

This is a real good shot!
Do you kjnow why specially the red dragonflies rest with the wings like this?
I saw it also a couple of times.

The picture is great but be careful with sharping and filtering. You win but you also loose.
