Well, this is a fly! Actually I don't know much about these kind of flies so I won't try to tell anything about them in order not to mis-inform you.
Luckily I can tell something about the setup I've used for this photo.
I was taken with my new FA* 200mm macro lens and a AF400T flash mounted to the side. Aperture priority and F22 to get the depth of field needed for this photo. It was taken early in morning to get some of the lingering water on the leaves and branches in the series I shot that morning. Did some dust speck removal in Photoshop and sharpened for the web.
