[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I'm lately very much into close-up macro photography and would like to tell you all more about the species of fly that is shown in this photo. Unfortunately: I have no clue :-)

I can elaborate on the photo though.
This photo was taken early in the morning with the morning dew still clinging to the leaves and to the grass. I'm using my new 200mm macro lens and I love the extra working space it gives in comparison to my 100mm macro. Fill flash was used from the side from the AF400T flash mounted to the side. In post processing I cropped a bit to get a better framing in the image and used a tiny little bit of adjustment in contrast and saturation. Slight USM for web viewing. This photo is part of my "water" series which can be seen in whole on my website.

Excellent photograph, Mike!

I love the Emerald and crystal like plain that the insect rests on. The insect looks like it is guarding it's domain, ready to remove it all those who wish to rest there. Excellent composition, superb depth of field.

Beautiful and unusual comoposition. As for the fly, it is, I believe, a Geomyza species (family opomyzidae).

Leuke foto Mike, apparte compositie! Mooi met die waterdruppels.. De scherpte is goed, maar wel wat weinig voor F22.. Kan ook aan mij liggen. Echt gave plaat!!

This is a really cool shot, great DOF enough to capture the whole insect and get enough of the dew drops. Paul :)

A very nice picture, Mike. The composition is spot-on, the picture nicely in focus with good DOF, and the BG is nicely OOF.
