[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I'm lately very much into close-up macro photography and would like to tell you all more about the species of spider that is shown in this photo. The only thing I can tell about it that it's living near the water and I found it just after it ate it's last victim.
You can still see the wing of it's breakfast potruding from the mouth.

I can elaborate on the photo though.
This photo was taken early in the morning. I'm using my 200mm macro lens and I love the extra working space it gives in comparison to my 100mm macro. Fill flash was used from the side from the AF400T flash mounted to the side. In post processing I cropped a bit to get a better framing in the image and used a tiny little bit of adjustment in contrast and saturation. Slight USM for web viewing. Colours do look a bit flat, but this is to my recollection the best reproduction of the actual situation.

Very good details, colours and POV. The DOF is good for the use of a 200mm macro. Welcome to the world of shallow DOF;-))

Mike, I have a similar shot, but your picture is much better.

Great composition and colors. I like sharpness and dof too. Great use of flash.

Beautiful composition with nice details and great colours, excellent flashwork. Nice framing with its hind leg sticking up to the right corner of the picture. I wonder if it could be Tetragnatha (pinicola?)?

Hello Mike, this spider is a Tetragnatha sp. I'm sorry I can't give you an exact species match as these are sometimes a little tricky (for me).

Anyway, nice capture. I like the composition and it's a nice view of it having a spot of lunch. Well done.
