[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the flat belly libellula depressa it a female.
The larvae lives approximately two years in the mud.
They are about 65-75 mm long.
It lives about 2 year as a larvae
The male, are is in reality light blue.
The female have still that splendid yellow spot on the untherbody.

They live by well-vegetated still water including garden and farm ponds. Adults fly from mid May to early August. The larvae can survive long in mud, if no more water stands there in the ponds. When we see thee first chasers we know that the summer is coming.

Over the photo well this one I took during a fish trip. I saw her and I must have her in the photo. So I chase behind her and I could make some shots. This is one of them.

This is my first chaser I have seen this year and I had to luck to photograph her. I must say I don't know for sure of the canon 350 I can improve my shots with the finepix 7000. This is much more differcult because you can not see your composition on the lcd you had to look through the surcher. By the 7000 you can see it on the lcd and that is very important to make a quick shot. I hope you like my try.

Hallo Jaap , Een prachtig macro shot van de dragonfly , mooie kleur compositie details en de bg , en de framing , Groeten Teunie .

Great macro shot Jaap. Great sharpness, details, clarity and POV/DOF. Great colours, composition and note too. Thanks for sharing. Jaap, the LCD is good but the S7000 is to slow to make a quick shot. :-( I think you understand me.
Gr.
Heinz

Hi Jaap, excellent close up with good colours and sharp details. Well composed shot, TFS.
Dean.

Good shot! You've captured this Libellula well, I particularly like your diagonal composition. If this were my shot, I'd consider a little more fine detail sharpening to accentuate the detail you've captured (try SmartSharpen 0.9px, 85% or thereabouts), but I know sharpening is a matter of taste. Ideally I think a little more DOF would be cool too - next time, try cranking it up to ISO400 (since the 350D can do well with shortish exposures at that speed), you'll find sharpness falls off over f13 or thereabouts (due to diffraction), but you can add more sharpening in PS to compensate for that. Not sure where exactly the focus point was, but ideally I'd aim for the eyes since that's where we look first - I know dragonflies are tricky though! Nicely done :-)

Hi Jaap,
Excellent! I really like the composition here. Perfect OOF backround really has him standing out. Nice saturated colors and sharp detail. This looks great!

Hello Jaap,
Nice try. Dragon flies are very complicated to shot at. Too bad the wings got out of focus. Still a very nice composition. Keep trying! TFS , Gabriel

Dag Jaap,
Schitterend gedaan Jaap mij complimenten.
Groeten,
John.

Nice macro!
Really close up.
Good details and natural colors.
Wel done.

Hello Jaap,
There was a long that I didn't a picture made by you... It is a nice close-up for this superb 'Libellule'. I also appreciate the complementary note, you are like me with the 350D, a big change for macro...
Congratulations Jaap and thanks for sharing.

Hi Jaap, 100% better than my chaser shots, I can't get any!!
Good composition, not all over sharp, but insect shows up well on the stick.
Adrian's comments are good, and I look forward to his reply to your letter.
Thanks Jaap, we always have more and more to learn,
Janice

Hi Jaap,
Very nice for your first go at this chaser..
Great DOF, POV, light, sharp detail, and color.
Very nicely composed also.
I wonder, did you shoot this in raw?
Yep, no LCD shooting with Canon DSLR :)
Great work mf!

Hi Jaap

Great first capture, details and colors

Hi Jaap,
A very nice shot of this Dragonfly. Nice detail and very natural colours, DOF a little shallow. I think the difference between the two cameras you will get used to, if I use a compact I still use the viewfinder, I can't take pictures using the LCD :-) Very nice work my friend.
Regards,
Adrian

You are a good chaser, Jaap, and your pursuit has ended in a masterpiece shot of this female "depressa" who does not look at all depressing to me!
Great shot.

Hi Jaap
You are addressing a very valid point in your comparison between the DSLR (350D) and the compact (Finepix 7000) in the difference of the LCD vs the view finder. Just today I had a discussion with a friend about this very same aspect after reading Peter Stoeckl's notes. Although the DSLR might be more challenging I do believe, once you can master it, the rewards and possibilities outweigh the negatives.
However, you did just fine here. Your composition is excellent, the colours are splendid, the DOF & BG are great, and the exposure was well managed.
Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

sur celle-ci le BG est mieux reussi et donne une meilleure profondeur au cliché.bon point de vu aussi.
