It was a clear evening and we decided to go out for a few hours. Perhaps we could spot some birds and eventually took some pictures in nature also. It was about one hour before sunset 08.20 pm
On this place it was crowded with all kind of ducks, geese and some spoonbils. We were enjoying the rest and the calmness of the landscape.
Suddenly a number of 8 geese were stretched their necks and came noisily to our direction, passed us and found another place in the grass a 100 meters further.
After 10 minutes, we heared a lot of chattering noise from a group of ducks, and without thinking I was turning my camera to the direction of the ducks and instinctively start to push the button. My mate was only watching what was happening without even touching his camera...
And what we where seeing took even shorter than a second. A hungry fox jumped out of the reed-land and grabbed a duck out of the group. It was fascinating, pure nature, and we were really impressed by what we were a witness of.
And of course, now we could also understand the noisy geese. Those wakeful birds had already noticed the fox!

The sharpness in this photo is not so good. The fox was also far away from us. But I was so lucky to capture this moment. Taking the circumstances into account I was quite happy with this picture and I want to share this with you.

Bonjour Ruud

Great shot of this fox attack Ruud.
Great timing to have a capture like his.
Great colors and Details.
TFS!!!!
Regards
JC

Fabulous capture, I just wish it was cropped a bit tighter but understand you would have lost even more detail. This is an amazing photo to capture the fox's leap in mid air. Well done!

Alli

Indeed not 100% sharp, but an amazing shot nevertheless.
Goed gedaan Ruud :-)

Bram

Best action picture of the week. Great shot !

Hello Ruud.
That's an incredible capture, and the sharpness is quite adequate under the circumstances.
Yours,
Andrew.

Hi Ruud
Excellent capture of the moment. The sly fox always gets the duck in the end of the story.
Under the circumstances you did really well with this 'rather shortish' lens and to be able to catch something like this without any prior warning takes some doing. From the f/stop & shutter speed I can also see that you did not have much light to work with which makes this even more extraordinary.
Very well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Ruud,

Dit is Lekker, What a capture ! Quick on the camera, it think it would have been difficult to get a better shot without a real "movie" camera that was ready for the shot.

Scott

Well done, Ruud. "Chance favors the prepared mind." I glad you maintained presence of mind to capture this dramatic moment.
Greg

Hi Ruud

Congratulations.... you were at the right place at the exact right time! Well done on the clarity of the shot under the exciting conditions. :-)

Hello Ruud,
Oh my dear!! What an awesome shot, packed with action and the best capture of nature I have seen for a while!!!
Amazingly well done, my congratulations!

Hi Ruud, Definitely a cunning fox this one. I think you did very well to capture this moment. I am like your friend too slow, by the time I have turned my camera on everything has gone. Very well done and TFS.

Unbelievable shot Ruud! The fox with his prey is pretty well focussed and the unsharpness of the rest of the picture just adds to the speed. I like this shot a lot! You were lucky to capture this moment. I have also never seen this before in my life. Well done & TFS!

Pieter

Hsa Ruud,

Wat een fantastische foto. Dat hij niet zo scherp is, doet hier niet ter zake. De compositie van een springende vos in het water met prooi en dan ook nog eens die lepelaars op de achtergrond is uniek.
Mijn complimenten voor deze actiefoto.

groet,
Zeno.

What a great capture! You got your timing perfectly right! Yukiko

Hi Ruud
Excellente capture

Hi Ruud,
this is a good picture with great action, it's pity that you couldn't use a faster shutter speed.
Good composition and nice POV.
Very well done.

Felicitaciones y saludos... Ricardo

A great capture Ruud for their opportunism, for POV and its composition.
Although the focus is not perfect, the beauty of the moment well it is worth their presentation.

Wauw, wat een moment dat je hier hebt vereeuwigd, Ruud! Ronduut National Geographic materiaal! Proficiat dat je in zo'n moment een goeie compositie hebt. Goeie focus op de vos, de rest beetje troebel... schitterend!
