Hi Jaap,
not my favorite bug, I used to scream when they came around me. But I must say it's an incredible shot. Superp details and sharpness. POV and DOF are very nice.

Hello Jaap,
Wonderful capture.I liked POV,lighting,details,framing and composition a lot.When i used canon camera i tried macro shots with flash at manuel mode,(ISO 400,f/22,1/250)adjustments from 35-40cm distance for getting large DOF and sharp images.Results were lovely especially against the sky.I wanted to share my expriments with you,maybe you'll try it if you have time:)

Hi Jaap,
Great shot of this creature. Perfect detail, excellent colours and the DOF really is perfect, no fall-off on the Beetle but nicely defocused background. Excellent work. A seasonal picture too, there are a lot of these in my area at the moment, it sounds like the sky is full of biplanes!

Great macro of this beetle.
I really like the way it is standing on the leaf.
The feet are at all different levels. I wonder how he kept his balance. Very sharp details and perfect exposure.

Een mei kever, men vindt ze steeds minder en minder maar dit jaar heb ik ook een kunnen fotograferen in macro, misschien plaats ik hem wel eens op TN, mooi pose van de kever om met de kop vooruit te kunnen worden genomen.

Deze meikevers, "muldertjes" to some, are called June-bugs in my country... Likely because of the time of year they show up. Aka scarab beetles, or June beetles < Order: Coleoptera / Family: Scarabaeidae > .

U may wanna include thisand this in your notes...
