Some hover-flies are beautiful of colour and often find it on plants with a lot of little flowers. Those little flowers have nectar as it where on flower lie, so that he by a glide can licks it up, with its short tongue. It is a delicacy for glides. The foods of glides exist from nectar and pollen. It is a pollen insect, this means that he can transmit, pollen and nectar, on same flower, and on another flower. As a result, these flowers are fertilised. She cannot pricks, because she has no sting. To glide plants it self by lying eggs. They laying the eggs in things such as mud, fattens, liquid manure and in corpses of large animals and shit. After a period of some days there Maggot’s arise from the eggs. The maggot of this hover-fly, also called rat tail, live in wet substance and with a little trunk they take breathe, to surface. There are rather what types of insects which are compared, with bees but if you have a good look, you will see the difference very well, however. There is a large difference between a bee and a hover-fly, in the way of life.

I try 800 asa out, with this 70-300 mm lens and the canon close up lens 5ooD. This last one you can use as a filter, you can screw it up.
I used it together with a speedlight 420 ex. You know I get pleasure in it, because it's working. Oke, it's not perfect yet, but believe me that will come later. It's a shame but here in the Netherlands it's very bad weather. Later i go farther with the experiment I hope you like this one.

Hi Jaap,
this is a very nice close-up with nice colours, good POV and well composed. The details are ok, but if you lower the ISO and don't use a small aperture like F25 the details will be muck better.
Well done, my friend.

Hi Jaap,
The details are nice and clear. focus is a touch soft beyond the wing.
Good colours, lighting and exposure. The POV is good.
Well framed and good notes.
Thanks for posting, have a great weekend.

Hi Jaap,
I find this shot quite good and I wonder why a bigger aperture gives more details. I think that a small aperture gives bigger dof and this helps to details all over the subject. Can you explain me what Gert said? (It's seem it's clear for you:-))
Best regards, José M.

Dag Jaap.
Die staat er mooi op. Prachtige kleuren zo.

Hi Jaap,

Nice frame filling composition. The color saturation is great. I think the detail is very good in spots, and slightly soft in others. Possibly the angle it was taken at. Keep working at it. You are getting some good shots.

Scott

Gotta revisit for pts.

Hi Jaap.
Your next excellent macro shot. I think you managed perfectly to define the DOF. Impressive BG emphasizes the beauty of flower and insect very well. The details and sharpness of hover-fly are great. Superb done.
Alexei.

This is really beautiful. SO delicate. Great work

Dag Jaap,

Glas heldere vleugels midden op de bloem, opnieuw een gekende close-up van u met een klein beetje gewijzigde houding, maar de gele bloem geeft wel een mooie verdeling in de foto. Prachtig verwerkt.

Groeten,
John.

Hi Jaap

I see it has been a while since you last posted a new photo so I chose one of your older beauties to critique.

You really pushed the ISO on this one which obviously gave you some excellent free play with light therefore you could opt for the impressive f/25 aperture. This ensured a massive DOF which meant good details throughout the range of the insect. (Ok, I realise that on macros "massive" does not necessarily mean massive, but I am sure you understand what I mean in relative terms.) The exposure levels gained from the fill-in flash also gave good results taking care of any unwanted harsh shades and giving some nice reflections on the wings. The colours are well saturated and the OOF and isolated BG made the insect and the flower stand out very well.

Good work and TFS.
Regards
Loot
