In doubt....
I was in doubt whether to post this picture. It's not completely sharp and also a scan from a colour slide.

While attempting to scan the slide it dropped on the floor ofcoarse and therefor had to remove a lot of dust. But I have good memories to the picture. I had never seen the species before and went already about five times to a place it would be present. This time I saw a lot of them and since it was good weather that day, I could take a lot of pictures.

It had always been a great image in my memory. But since thee digital era it seems my old slides lack the ultimate sharpness.
Well whatever....I'm going to present it to you anyway.

The Large Chequered Skipper is a species which occurs in bogs and moist heather vegetations. The upper parts are dark brown but the real beauty is on the underside of the wing.

Hello Jacob,
first, I think that there are a lot of interesting and unique nature documents in the slide archives around the world. Second, I hope that the digital era does not prevent their publication. So, thank you for posting the picture of this very attractive skipper. Colours an composition are pretty good. To improve sharpness a little I tried a workshop which sometimes helps to polish these treasures.

Hello Jacob,
Great that you scanned this shot of the Large Checquered Skipper to show us on TN.
This site is not a competition to see who can produce the sharpest, best composed shot with the best BG. Though these characteristics are important, what is at least equally important is to be able to contribute a picture of something interesting or unusual in our natural environment, something to remind us that we live in a world that is still wonderful!

What a beautiful skipper. I don't mind that it isn't perfectly sharp. The markings on the wing are stunning. Great POV and colours

Hi Jacob,

I was just preparing to make a workshop for you but then I saw Peter has already done that.The butterfly has amazing patterns but as everbody mentioned the sharpness is lacking.The soft BG enriches the composition and brings out the subject well.

myabe is not perfect sharpness but i like a lot.
is also very interesting for me that you say that the species can be found there in bog and marshy area, hmmmmm interesting.

What beautifully patterned wings this fellow has. An I love his colours too. Well shown Jacob. It could be sharper, but the lighting and colours and the moth itself, make it a winner. TFS

Lovely shot of this beautiful butterfly and consdering that it is a scan, it's really great.
Excelletn POV and DOF, leaving a very beautiful blurry BG and keeping the buterfly in focus.
Lovely colors and tones, too. Also the light seems to fall so well on it, making it look even nicer.
