Sakis, or saki monkeys, are any of several New World monkeys of the genus Pithecia. They are closely related to the bearded sakis of genus Chiropotes.

Sakis' range includes northern and central South America, extending from the south of Colombia over Peru in northern Bolivia and into the central part of Brazil.

Sakis are smaller monkeys with long, bushy tails. Their furry, rough skin is black, grey or reddish-brown colored depending upon the species. The faces of some species are naked, but their head is hooded with fur. Their bodies are adapted to life in the trees, with strong hind legs allowing them to make far jumps. Sakis reach a length of 30 to 50 cm, with a tail just as long, and weigh up to 2 kg.

Hi Annick

Another great portrait of an interesting lookgin animal from you!
What a thrill to my eye to see these creatures here, animals that you don't quite see all-day every-day :)
Excellent POV and very well managed exposure and DOF. The colros are lovely and the details on his fur are impressive.
Very well framed and composed, too.

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Wow! What a face - is he really real Annick??
Definitely a new one for me to see. Very good capture Annick, he is quite impressive, and reminds me of a seal's face!
This fellow looks a lot bigger than the 30-50cm in height. Good job,
Janice

What a strange-looking animal, Annick.
I don't think I have ever seen anything like that before,
though the name saki rings a bell.
There is a tad of OE in the white "mane", and the details could be a bit sharper, but the POV is fantastic.
TFS. : )

Hi Annick,
Your animal's portraits will always amazed me. You present us some so strange speacies and this one is part of it. I had never seen this one before. I must say that from my point of view he is not the nicest but what is beauty anyway, it is so subjective... You captured him with good details and an undescriptible expression in his eyes... I wish I could see the whole animal someday :) Thanks,
Claudine

This photo has a lot of potential. The composition works for me. The subject interesting (don''t think I have seen this before) and the white face vs. darker body looks good. The only thing keeping this from being one of the best portriats is the limited DOF. F2.8 was too small for the distance you where from hte subject. Well done.
