[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The river 'Maas' is originally a meandering river in an old bed of the Rine. It turned out that the sand of the summer bed is worth exploiting. The sand winning created a lot of artificial lakes on the banks of the Maas. Every winter a lot of birds rest around the lakes, like geese, merganser, and ducks. This windy and rainy day I heard a Arctic diver should be around, which we found popping up every 3 minutes to dissapear again after 10 seconds. Also more common species occus, like this pochard (Aythya ferina). After every dive it streched it's wings.

PS 24 hrs later my daughter was born. I always thought babies were brought by a stork, not a duck..:-)

Hello Jacob,
Nice capture of this male Pochard in dim light conditions, which you managed to cope with by taking this sharp well-timed and well-composed shot.
Nice one!
Congratulations on being a father to a little girl. I have just become a grandfather to Emily.
TFS and best wishes for 2007!

Muy buenos detalles y la luz también es fantástica. Parece que hacía frío...
