Number 5 of the "Northern Sunset" theme:

This picture is taken towards the north where you can see the dark night closing in the horizon. The few clouds on the sky reflect the red light of the setting sun. A clear cloudless day like this is usually a promise of cold temperatures. When this picture was shot it wasnt too bad, but still -22C. The camera was very cold when I came home, and I took care not to put the camera bag in the cabin of the car on the way home, but rather in the trunk, where so it wasnt suddenly exposed to warmer temperatures. I did this on the way out as well to cool the camera down gradually from house temperature. When I returned to my house again, I let the camera and lenses be in the entrance overnight before taking it all the way into the warm house. It worked well, the only thing was that the cold temperatures had drained the battery quicker than usual.

Torbjorn,

A great shot here, I love all the colors. Very nice portfolio of some quite impressive landscapes. Nice job.

That is good advice on using a camera in cold weather. We sometimes put the camera in air tight bag until it has reached room temperature to keep condensation from forming in and on it.

Your photo is beautiful. Wonderful depth of focus with that wide angle lens. It is wonderful photograph. There is some noise in foreground which could easily be fixed.

Hello Torbjorn,
your series is getting quite impressive. These colours are amazing and must be delight for you as photographer (at least for me).
Nice note on the camera care. Last year in the lofoten in oktober/november the D20 batteries lasted only 30 minutes.
Hope to see more sunsets,
Jacob

Hi Torbjorn,
Great advise on the camera treatment with cold weather. A tip on the battery, carry an extra one with you close to your body.
The colors and the light in this image are really wonderful. Especially the light patches of snow in the FG. The cloud formation is really stunning.

One question. What is up with the extra numbers behind the title?

Hi Torbjorn,

Beautiful winter scenery. The tones on the snow are well captured. Horizon at 1/3 and the 2/3 being the sky part with these beautiful cloud formations. The color from the sun are well captured.

PC :)

Hi Torbjorn,

I love the colours, they are very beautiful.
Great sharpness, composition and POV.
Well done!
