[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A view from the Sognefjell Road in Norway. This road is extra-ordinary beautyfull, leading over the roof of Norway. The Sognefjell Road gives you access to Jotunheimen National Park, with Galdhøpiggen, Norway’s highest mountain, and several of the other of the highest peaks in Norway. The route between the inland valley, high mountains and fjord offers breathtaking contrasts in climate and topography and a variety of plant and animal life, from lower elevations with farms, pine forests and the conditions for human settlement to the alpine terrain approx. 1,000 metres above sea level. Up here you’ll find bare rock with clear traces of the last Ice Age, with grass, moss, lichen interspersed with juniper and willow. Here you’ll also find hardy polar plants such as arctic buttercup, with mountain birch here and there. Wild as well as tame reindeer live on Sognefjell, and down towards the valleys there are moose and deer. In the high mountains, eagles and rough-legged buzzards thrive. In eastern regions there may be bears, lynx and wolverines, though they are few and very shy.

The area has several climatic zones. The east side is well sheltered by the prevailing westerly winds and has a relatively dry climate. The highest elevations have an arctic climate with winter much of the year. On the mountain peaks it can snow even in the summer. The fjord climate is mild, and in the innermost reaches of Sognefjord there is also relatively little precipitation.

Here you see the Smørstabbreen (breen=glacier), and on the left side the mountain Storebjørn (2.208 m).

This is a very impressive place. I understand very well your enthusiasm about this national park that I would like to visit someday. You had a really good POV for that and good DOF. Prachtige foto van een erg mooie omgeving. Erg mooi hoe je via de rotsen en het huisje naar de gletsjer wordt geleid. Ondanks de bewolking is de belighting perfect. De WS van Steve vind ik erg goed, en geeft net dat beetje meer.

Superplaat Ruud. Misschien zullen sommige mensen zeggen dat ze het huisje liever niet op de foto gehad zouden hebben, maar dat zeg ik niet. Ik vind het huisje namelijk heel 'Noors' en geeft diepte en ook de schaal van de gletsjer aan. Prachtig! Well done & TFS!

Hoi Ruud, wat een prachtige spot! Juist dat huisje maakt de foto interessant, wat een uitzicht. De promotie voor Noorwegen begint aardig aan te slaan. Nu ben ik benieuwd naar het wild. Dan boek ik. Groet reina

Nice view from the road!
Ive crossed the sognefjell route several times, and I never get tired of driving there. It is so breathtaking and beautiful!

Ive done a little workshop, as the colours seemed a little bit washed out and blue, maybe? You can see what you think :)
