Kjenndalsbreen
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Kjenndalsbreen (breen = glacier) in Norway is easy to reach. With the car you have to take a 20 km long toll-road to the glacier. From the parking place you have to walk for another 1/2 an hour to reach the galcier. The Kjenndal is part of the Jostedalsbreen, which is with 1000 km2 the biggest glacier area of Europe. In comparison with the more touristic and well known Briksdalsbreen, which is the neighbour-glacier on the map, you will meet here less people. The glacier is of an extra-ordinary beauty. The blue glacier tongue is very contrasting towards the grey/brown rock formation.
When we visit this place it was a very cloudy day. Also surprising were the big blocks of ice, fallen from the glacier around 60 metres in front of the glacier-tongue. For us the evidence again, that it could be quite dangerous, and that you have to be careful how close you will enter the ice mass. |

Hi Ruud,
the pale blue against the grey of the rock is very eye catching and i like the inclusion of the figure on the right to give a sense of scale. Good POV and exposure, looks like an interesting spot to explore.

Hello Ruud,
This is something that we don't see often and I hope that this kind of scenery could be seen again for next thousand years... I would be much impressed being in this place... Details and POV are very nice. I don't know if it is only me but it seems that the picture could be a little brighter IMHO. I maybe try something just to see. This is an insignificant detail anyway for such interesting scenery. Thanks,
Claudine
PS, When working on the picture, I have just noticed the photographer right. You did well letting him there as we have a sense of scale and this is more impressive!
Très impressionnants ces glaciers ils sont comme ceux que j'ai vu en Alaska, difficile sur cette photo d'en déterminer la grosseur.
Merci
Marie
Hello Ruud,
The typical colour of the glacier is well recorded!
Excellent details in the harsh landscape, I appreciate inclusion of the guy upper right for scaling!
Greetings,
