[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Although I'm a bit short on time, I did want to post my next photo from my vacation in Norway.

I took this photo from our campground at the lake called Hornindalsvatnet, just north of the Jostedalsbreen. Early that evening I saw a good development of clouds that promised a reasonable sunset. The only disatvantage this high north is that you have to wait hours before any color appear along the horizon. The sunsets close to midnight in mid summer.

So there I was standing, next to my tent waiting for the light. The midges were having a feast on my legs and half the campground was wondering why I was standing there with my camera ready on my tripod. The midgets didn't give up, but most of the spectators decided to do something different. In the end I got rewarded with a small band of nature's finist colors.

This is a stitch of three horizontal photos. All in full manual control. I haven't decided yet if I will also post the larger version. First because I am not sure how large this version will be on TN and second because I don't like those large version where it is too big to fit on the screen. Maybe when the request is high I will change my mind.

OK, I've posted an LP version. Not too big and maybe not the best quality due to the max file size

Een fraaie panorama met mooie kleurcombinaties,een LP versie zal zeker de moeite waard zijn,maar dat ins natuurlijk aan jou,wij gaan volgende week ook richting Noorwegen (spitsbergen) en hoop dus ook weer een leuke fotoweek te hebben,we zijn de winterkleren al weer uit de kast aan het halen,want fris is het er wel,

Hi Niek,
well i for one would love to see a large version of this, as i don't think the size limit on TN really does this justice. Very impressive stitching and truly beautiful colours, did you adjust the settings at all or use the same for each one? You have my sympathies with the midges too!

It was really worth waiting long for this beautiful sunset, and also worth posting the LP version! Colors are beautiful just like the sharp cloud patterns. I really like the small group of trees in the middle. TFS!

Dit is een hele beste panoramafoto geworden van een schitterende zonsondergang. Deze foto geeft al het een en ander mooi weer, maar als je de grote uitvoering bekijkt is dat toch wel een heel ander verhaal hoor. Ondanks dat het niet op je scherm past is het fenomenaal. En wat zijn midgets eigenlijk. Een soort mugjes of zo.

How funny.... both of our last posts are pink and lavender. "Gotta" love those colors. It is also amusing that I am still scratching from all the mosquitoes that made a meal of me while I took my pink/lavender photo a couple of evenings ago!! I really like that bit of blue sky peaking through. I sure haven't figured out how to predict a nice sunset in advance. They often catch me by surprise.... or I get all set up and nothing happens. You did well on the stitching. I read the other day that to make a long horizontal panoramic, try doing it with a series of vertical images... that way it isn't quite so skinny. I haven't tried that yet.
I'm so glad you are back!! It's been a lonely summer with so many TN'ers away.

I have to say that I am really envious of this picture. The larger version is stunning and I am so glad that your legs paid the price with the midges... I know Norway and midges. The colours and detail are excellent and there is a great mix of cloud, colour and silhouetted mountains.

Gorgeous shot. It is always difficult for me, when I am shooting a sunrise or sunset (or for that matter a gloaming shot), to know whether to err on the side of more light to show off the colors and textures or to accentuate the silhouettes.

I love what you have done, but decided to do a workshop to show the other side of the story.
