The Nigardsbreen in Norway is like the other famous glacier the Briksdalbreen, easily to reach. After crossing the glacier lake (with the boat, public service!) you have to walk another 30 minutes to reach the glacier.
With the standard kit lens Nikkor DX 18-70 I captured a part of this mighty ice mass. The lightblue colour of the ice was contrasting so good with the more deep blue of the sky, that I was obliged to take this picture.
On this particular place, the huge ice blocks were simply shoved on the the rocks. A number of ten meters beside this place the glacier tongue was, as usual, flowing into a lake with ice cold melt-water. |
