This is the first snow for winter season 2009/10 in Central Norway…

Way too early of course, but we had this terrible weather all autumn so I’m not surprised.

What you see here are the outskirts of Forollhogna National Park, and the landscape is characterized by slowly rolling hills and mountains shaped by the ice rather than rugged summits.

The National Park was established as late as 2001, and covers 1062 km2 of mountain area in Central Norway. No roads are leading into the park so trekking or riding are the only alternatives to get there.

Forollhogna is widely known for the population of wild reindeer, as one of two areas in Norway. In the mountain valleys we find summer farms, some of them still in use with cows and goats during the summer months, and a few are selling traditional produce like milk and cream, butter and cheese and believe me, nothing you get in grocery stores can compare!

The NP has a rich wildlife, reindeer already mentioned but also birds like eagles, hawks and owls, mountain ducks and many others, and if you’re lucky you can meet bear and wolf too. Mountain fox, wolverine and lynx complete the picture.

Ciao Pablo,

Great capture of the breathtaking landscape with superb details! The snow covered hills looks fantastic, especially against this green forest area in the FG. I like the great contrast between the snow white hills and the green forest. The sharpness and POV are perfect.

Great composition!

best regards,
Paras

Hi Pablo. This is a beautiful landscape with the early snow on the mountain tops. As you say winter has come very soon for you this year. I like the way the warm sun light is shining on the snow. Taken fron a good POV. TFS.

Hi Pablo,

What a beautiful scene!
Sharp and clear with great detail.
Excellent light.

Well done,

Joe

We had it too all fall so far Pablo...I suspect our first will be soon but praying that this year will not be as bad as the last two...although they make for fun pictures..

Perhaps this snow is harbinger of a actual winter for you instead of the lousy ones in the past 2 as well...I wish you well and glad to see you!
Bob

Hi Pablo.
Snow comes too early this season. However, you had opportunity to take such nice landscape picture. I like warm sunlight, long shadows, delicate reproduction of the sky with clouds and excellent details of the scene at whole. My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.

Hello Pablo,
Happy to see again some landscape from you! Beautiful effect created by the first snow on the mountains in the back and a fine blue sky, like we can see it in wintertime. Snow already arrived in my country too. A landscape which seems to be still very natural to read about the species living there.
Thanks and kind regards
Anne

hello pablo again
wonderful landscape of first snow with great atmosphère, colors, sharpness are very good but what i like the most are the different layers : the dark forest, he snowy hills, the white clouds and finally the blue sky
have a good night again
Jacqueline

What an awesome shot, Pablo, my dear friend!I love the layers of colours!
Simply superb!
Bravo!
Goldy

Beautiful landscape!
Love the layering - the green forest, the white mountain, the grey clouds, the blue sky...fascinating strata!

Hi Pablo,
I already thought when I saw this photo that the snow is very early. But if I remember correctly you had something similar a few years ago and then it all melted again.
I like the simple and clean composition with the four different layers of trees, snow, clouds and clear sky. It really has that untouched feel of Norway.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Pablo,

The point of view leads my eyes toward the mountains which is giving depth to the composition. The trees are framing well the mountains. The reflections of the light on the snow is enhancing the colors of the scenery. Have a nice day.

Pierre
