[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taken in the harbour at Honninsvag, just below the NordKapp. The juvenile Common Tern was perched atop the timber pile at the end of an old wooden jetty. As they tend to do it was immobile but calling hungrily to mum who was quartering the harbour to find junior-sized morsels. One such small fry was received and promptly dropped by junior back into the water. When mum approached again I was sort-of ready.

In PSE cropped, resized, adjusted levels and sharpened.

Peter, very nice the combination of the static youngster with the approaching parent. I like the sharpness of the youngster and the movement in the mother. I wonder if a part of the top could be cropped out.
Great shot.
Greetings,Jan

Very nice capture, Peter. Terns are one of my favorites, especially inflight action shots. Your timing was impeccable here and your focus was spot on. The only thing I would change would be to brighten it up a bit...either levels or curves would do the job...but other than that I think this is a cracker jack shot!

Very good action shot Peter
Perfect timing , nice colour , good sharpness and nice composition.
Well done.

Excellent catch with great colours, you did a very good work here, well done!

Well caught, the sense of movement in the adult is a nice contrast to the still youngster. Detail of the youngster and the algae on it are great.

Hi Peter
This is the type of shot we al try to get. Not always successful but this is how we learn. I think your lens is too short here and the light was to dull, even at f5,6, you only got 1/320s. You need around 1/1000 to 1/500 to "nail" it sharp. Also, the eye is not visible on the adult bird. Fill flash could also help with a catchlight in the eye. All this said, I still love this image.

Great shot - very hard to capture - you really were in the right place at the right time. Well done!

Gran captura en movimiento Peter.
Bellas aves y muy bien retratadas, con una excelente presentacion, nitidez y colorido.

Great capture in movement Peter.
Beautiful birds and very well portrayed, with an excellent presentation, colorful and clearness.

This is really a great capture Peter. I love the movement in the blurred wings and the young one waiting/begging for food. Colours are great as well as the dof. I think I would crop out 2/3 of the space in the top of the picture but that of course is a personal matter and not really important. You did a very nice job here.

With much patience this perfect timing ,Peter, nice colour ,good sharpness and nice composition. Well seen!

Hi Peter, a wonderful capture of the "stern", as we call it. The young one on the pile and the mother (maybe it's the father...) in a beautiful action, good colours and composition !

I like this habit/action shot Peter , its a little dark but all is clearly seen including the moving at speed wings. Nice one.

This is a very good motion shot of Mum and her little one. Your split second timing has resulted in this great photo. Have you tried a speed of 1000. I learnt that on this site, and it helps in freezing moving objects.
I really like the wooden pole with all that lichen on it. The colour is very good. Well done.

Hi Peter..
I like the picture, composition is just great
