Here we can see the Bird Cherry tree in blossom in the month of May...

The Bird Cherry (Prunus padus) is a species of cherry, native to northern Europe and northern Asia, growing even north of the Arctic Circle in Norway. It is the type species of the subgenus Padus with flowers in racemes, which are hermaphroditic and pollinated by bees and flies; it is a deciduous small tree or large shrub 8-16 m tall.

The English name refers to the berries, which are astringent and bitter, seldomly used in Western Europe (but commonly eaten in Russia and elsewhere), readily eaten by birds, which do not taste astringency as unpleasant. It was used medicinally during the Middle Ages, and the bark, placed at the door, was supposed to ward off the plague.

Another name is the Hagberry, and the fruit can be known as Hags.

Also take a look at Silke's workshop image, showing the cluster of flowers in detail, that is the Canadian version!

HI Pablo
This looks very like the bushes that grow wild on the edges of the parks here too. They are especially numerous anywhere there are dead tree branches or electrical wires where birds might perch :D
Great shades of green here

Hi Pablo

I like your picture mainly because of its simplicity and the composition. But it also reflects very well the Norwegian nature. The composition with the rock slightly on the right and the diagonal formed by the tree is fine, too.

Kind regards
Markus

As well as it looks like rocks from an ice age there as well or perhaps granite from local mountains? A very delicate image Pablo. Well received yes?
Bob

Hi Pablo
The textures and colours really caught my eye here. The Bird Cherry looks so nice up against the grey rock. It looks like there is going to be a bumper crop of cherries by all the blossoms. Nicely composed and ballanced. Colours and lighting are great.
TFS Janice

Excellent image of the bird cherry. A great setting for it as well with the interesting rocks in the FG and BG. Well done.

TFS!

Hello Pablo,
This is an interesting post, original and very detailed. It is well composed with natural exposure. I think that I would have liked to see the flowers from closer :) I had a look at Silke's WS and I don't really recognize them... IMHO, you should take note of your camera settings before saving your pictures for the web, I would be very curious to see them :))) Thanks,
Claudine

Nice looking scenery. I like the mossy rock and rocks behind. Very pleasant scene. Interesting info!

Hi Pablo,

Hi Pablo,
i like the txture of the rock and the colours rendered by the hues of green and whitish.
They form a soft and calm scene.
The placement of the boul;der is just fine to kill the greenery by adding something different.
Good thought.

Foozi
