I spent between 2 - 3 hours photographing these bird cliffs - I only got two or three reasonable shots - poor light and big swell.

Great action shot showing the characteristic bill marking very well.

A very beautiful in-flight of this lovely bird that we don't see a lot of here on TN.
It looks great, with a great looking natural contrast in its plumage and also a bit funny with those spread legs :)
However, i find the workshop pictures her to be even more impressive than this shot. Especially the one with only the cliff - that one is fantastic!!! You are right...now that's a huge colony!
Back to the in-flight, i understand why it was so difficult to take one there. you still managed well and the shutter speed here looks as if enought to freeze the movement (although i don't know how much it is). The noise is a bit visible, but it's really something you shouldn't worry about since it's not something that's so obvious.
Overall: gret work under the conditions!

I think we've seen similar cliffs to the one you describe on films, it must be fantastic to see them for real. This is an excellent capture of the Guillemot in flight with beautifully spread wings. The colour of the background is beautiful and the noise not too distracting.

I really like the colours in this shot.The blue of the sea is beautiful.
Excellent in flight shot,the plumage detail shows well.Very good eye contact.
The POV is amazing,the perspective gives the impression the viewer is in the air with the bird.

This is a superb in-flight shot, Jacob!
I have never seen this species in real life but you can see the characteristic features in this fine POV.
Any noise due to the ISO 800 is not noticeable and the shot is pretty sharp.
This is probably a first of this species on TN?

Hallo Jacob,

Schitterende vlucht van deze zwarte zeekoet. Je hebt de aktie goed vastgelegd. Of hij is met de landing bezig, of hij is aan het thermieken. Jij mag het zeggen. De details in het verenpakket zijn heel goed zichtbaar. De kleuren zijn zoals ze horen te zijn. Gewoon goed dus. Volgens mij hield hij je goed in de gaten. Een mooi scherp plaatje Jacob. Oh ja, en de workshopfoto's geven een mooi beeld van wat jij daar allemaal op dat moment gezien hebt. Wat een massa vogels hè!!
