Spring is the time of year when we can find creations like this!

The conditions for this to take place is daytime temperatures above 0C, to make snow melt and create puddles of water. Then during nighttime if temperature goes below 0C the small puddles will freeze and create a great variation of ice crystal patterns...

Ice is the name given to any one of the 15 known crystalline solid phases of water. It can appear transparent or an opaque bluish-white color depending on the presence of impurities such as air. The addition of other materials such as soil may further alter appearance.

The most common phase transition to ice occurs when liquid water is cooled below 0 °C (273.15 K, 32 °F) at standard atmospheric pressure. It can also deposit from a vapor with no intervening liquid phase, such as in the formation of frost.

Ice appears in nature in forms as varied as snowflakes and hail, icicles, glaciers, pack ice, and entire polar ice caps. It is an important component of the global climate, particularly in regard to the water cycle.

Furthermore, ice has numerous cultural applications, from the ice cooling one's drink to winter sports and ice sculpture.

Hi Pablo.
Spring is on the yard and winter is in the past. And your shot reminds the change of the season greatly. I like your poetic shot and interesting presentation of common nature phenomenon. You managed to reflect the winter ice pattern very well. I also like composition of the shot (it is so difficult task in this case) and exposure of the image. My compliments and kind wishes.
Alexei.

Hi Pablo,
excellent sharp detail and amazing textures, your framing has created a piece of art here, well done!
Paul

Dear Pablo,
What a stunning composition you have presented us with today, beautiful clarity, and stunning detail, really nice work all the best Cheers Rick :)

Ice is fascinating! I however like to see it here, and in my summer drinks. I have never driven on it, a scary thought to me! I loved icicles when I was little, in Chicago and in Colorado. I also made snow angels by laying in the snow. NOW I am a California woman !!!!! My travels in cold weather in Asia, had no heat, (not even Dec. in Tibet) so I guess that influences my feelings too!

Hello Pablo,

A very artistic photo. Impressive. Look a like B&W. The image is very sharp, with enough single details. POV,DOF and BG are good. Thanks for the notes. You managed to reflect the winter ice pattern very well. Have a nice day and TFS BOB

Hi Pablo, fascinating frozen composition, splendid abstract painting by nature, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hej Pablo,
We often take these ice crystal formations for granted but there is a lot of beauty to be found where they occur and you have captured an interesting formation with fine abstarct beauty. Nice composition and thanks for pointing this out in this way,
Best wishes,

Very artistic...beautiful and creative. I look at such things and never see the potential for a photograph. I'm always amazed at the creativity and imagination of the artists on this site!

Hello Pablo,
Superb and fantastic shot of this temporary natural construction made by Ice with excellent sharpness and wonderful details. The composition is perfect.
TFS and regards,
Bayram

I agree with you, Pablo. Nature is the greatest creative artist.
The shapes formed by frozen water here look abstract but beautiful.
The white toned ice shapes contrast well with the dark soil.
Well seen and well captured phenomenon of nature.

Hello Pablo,
Nature is an artist, but so is the man that took this outstanding image Pablo. Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece of work.
Rick

Hi Pablo, you won't get a lot more of this art now with spring coming on. Nicely timed shot, with good exposure on the reflecting surface. Nice patterns seen here. As kids (before they had double and triple paned windows) we used to see these patterns and make up stories about them.

Thanks, John

Hi Pablo,

you always have excellent eye for details. Very nice view, impressive how nature is able to randomly create wonderful artworks.

Well done!

Hallo Pablo,

A very beautiful landscape you have captured.
The image is very sharp, with a lot details, fascinating frozen composition, splendid abstract painting by nature.
Real something very specially, very well done.
Thanks for sharing.

Best regards,
John.

Hi Pablo!

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that is attracted by ice formations. I'm always impressed by the richness of the shapes ice offers to us, every ice surface seems to be a painting, an artwork. In fact it is. And you present us a nice example of this. It seems to me as if there would be a flower growing on the ground. It's just beautiful!

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Pablo,
I haven't been here on the Treks in the past few weeks, and I wasn't able to enjoy Your fantastic winter photographs. Here in Hungary there was very solid and light winter again, nice amount of snow in November and a little in January, but it wasn't a "real" winter compared to the previous ones (the last really snowy winter was 2002-2003).
Nice and clear capture of an ice formation, interesting and impressive shot. Congrats and tfs. Greetings, László

Hello Pablo !
I like this kind of pictures very much, really. These ice formations are wonderful, I love the shapes. Excellent details and exposure, beautiful composition. I can almost feel the cold when I lok at this picture ! :-) And for me, who didn't know any winter this year, it would be nice to feel some real cold ! Very well done !
Valerie.

Pablo,
Loved your notes.
A well composed image.
BEAUTIFUL WORK.
Well done, my friend.
Mario.

You are right about Art Pablo. This image is very graphical and visible geometry under good lighting. Well done and thanks for sharing. Regards. Jusni

Hello Pablo,
as always the art is everywhere. it is painted in the sky, forest, tree barks, rocks etc. the eyes needed to interprete it is a bit difficult in seeing.
You did one interpretation, it is just a lovely formtion and manifestation of natural beauty.

regards,
Foozi
