White on Green

This is another picture from the "Vikanuten"-mountain in Hardanger. Its a 2-3 hour climb from our cottage by the fjord. Up here there are plenty of images waiting to get captured on camera! In some areas you`ll find these white "cotton" plants - I`m not sure what they are called. Maybe someone out there can help me?
I think they made a nice combination with the green grass.
In the background you can see the white cap of the "Folgefonna" glacier. They have a summer-open ski center on this glacier - about 2 hours drive from the city of Bergen.
PP: Levels, curves, sharpening
PS: I dint have the camera data available at the moment, but I will update it as soon as possible :) |

Hi Torbjorn,
A very nice picture from the Vidda. I was there this summer and I must admit it is very striking area.
Of course I can help you with the white "cotton" plants. In fact they are all over Scandinavia and it is called Eriophorum spec. (I don't know the Norwegian name). These plants are most beautiful and striking in summer when they formed seeds. The seeds are growing on the white cotton-like flowers. In general these plants are growing in wet soil.
Regards, Ruud

Hello Torbjørn,
Typical Norwegian mountain landscape, composed of many common elements!
Well balanced composition with wise emphasis to the ground and the vegetation..
Good natural colours and fine details!
