This is a great skua at Runde, Norway, in Great Britain and Schotland also known as Bonxies. The bonxie is a large, long-billed skua, with broad wings and a short tail. The plumage is dark brown, with white on primary wing feathers. Bonxie is derived from the Norn word, 'bunksi,' meaning dumpy bird. Great one that picks off the vermin. Bonxies feed mainly on fish, and occasionally birds. The great skua attacks breeding birds, forcing them to drop or disgorge fish, but also preys directly on adults and young of a wide range of seabirds.
This one fiercly defended it's territory and displayed his diving skills. |

Hi Jacob!
This is a beautiful close-up photo, with nice d.o.f. and pretty good details, although it could use a bit more sharpening. Interesting and informative note.
Thanks for sharing,
