Hello Michal,
I hope you had a good Christmas,
Though this is a laboratory-type of photograph it is sharp and well presented to give TN members an interesting and important contribution showing an invasive species of freshwater shrimp. One wonders how it will effect the ecology and food chain of our European rivers and how other creatures will respond to the initial impact. If it is an invader of the major rivers of Europe, I wonder how it will effect the small tributaries and how small freshwater species like Gammarus will be affected in the long term?

Rzeczywiscie, trzeba to przyznac bez 2 zdan, ze zdjecie wyszlo bardzo ladne! Ostre, wyrazne kolory, dobry detal i glebia ostrosci. Tylko troche tlo takie malo naturalne (szalkowe ;> hehe!)

Nice to hear from you again and thank you for your very nice wishes for 2008.
I also want to wish you only the best in this New Year, many successes from all points of view and, perhaps above all, health (because without that we can't really do anything).

This is indeed a great shot, one both aesthetic and splendid for any biology presentation.
The details are simply impeccable and the colors are gorgeous.
The lighting is also superbly managed and it brings out the best in the shrimp.
I see you've been undergoing some very interesting researches about this species (and not only). I would dare to say it's a global thing and invasion can be found at all kinds of animals (we have the same thing in Romania, too, with several fish species from what i've heard from a colleague of mine, but also some exotic turtles that are gaining territory by the day).
I don't want to be pushy about this at all, but just as i invited Radek, i would also like to welcome you to publish at our North-Western Journal of Zoology which is now covered by ISI any studies you would like about zoology from any part of the world.

That being said, i would once again like to wish you an excellent New Year and all the best, my friend!

I almost overlooked this picture but now I want to make good on the slip:
This is one of the pictures that really motivate me to work in TN: it is of excellent quality (the light from the side and from underneath, clever!) . And what an interesting animal you present, new to TN ! Last but not least your note is a trove of interesting info, all new to me. Thanks for your effort. My best wishes go with you for your research (I will also keep an eye now on our Aare river!)
