[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Large Copper (Lycaena dispar) is a European butterfly of the family Lycaenidae. The British race of this butterfly (dispar) has been extinct for over 150 years (since 1864). Most of our knowledge of its life cycle and ecology comes from studies of the similar race (batavus) found in The Netherlands. The species can be identified by the silvery hindwing undersides, from the large specimens of the related, more common, drier habitat species Lycaena virgaureae and Lycaena hippothoe.

Hello Alina,
thank you for posting this nice and sharp close-up of L. dispar.
Magnification and details are amazing.
Unfortunately, you cut the legs of the butterfly.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Alina,
What a fine sharp capture of the Large Copper showing the beautiful markings on the underside of the wings. Nice light and it stands out very well from the green background. Only a little too tightly cropped.
TFS and regards, Ulla

Czesc Alina!

Widze, ze wysylamy zdjecia podobnych zwierzakow :-) Piekne swiatlo i kolory. Niesamowicie wyszly swiatlocienie i to przejscie od blekitu przez pomarancz az do glebokiej czerwieni. Naprawde trudno zrobic zdjecie tych obfotografowanych motyli w jakis ciekawy sposob, ale Ty zrobilas to znakomicie.

Hi Alina,

What a nice close-up of this butterfly. Image is very clear with sharp details on the whole insect. Good use of light rendering nice colors. May be if you should have kept the whole legs of the insect in frame it should have been better.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian
