Wierzch skrzydeł samca czarnobrunatny, samicy - od czarnobrunatnego do pomarańczowobrunatnego. Spód skrzydeł jasnożółty z pomarańczową przepaską w zewnętrznej części skrzydła i licznymi czarnymi plamkami w jasnej obwódce.
Rozpiętość skrzydeł: 28 - 30 mm
Motyle żywią się nektarem kwiatów.
Samice składają jaja pojedynczo na spodzie liści szczawiów.

Ramiona (czytaj skrzydełka) rozpostarte w pełnej gali. Układ skrzydeł w kształcie laskowego orzecha. Ładne kolory i niezła ostrość. Tło wspaniale pasuje do kolorów tego motylka. Sam główny aktor tego spektaklu pięknie umieszczony w kadrze.
