Hi Chris,
perfect image of Parnassius mnemosyne you have taken here!
Very well focussed, well arranged. The transparency of wings is very well shown. Beautiful background of subtle shades of green. The whole arrangement looks very noble.
In the higher regions of the Vienna Woods, this species sometimes can also be seen in surprisingly large numbers from the end of May into June. When I first saw this species here I was convinced to see a congregation of Aporia crataegi - but here the Clouded Apollo seems to be quite dominant. At these places, there is a lot of Corydalis near the edges of forest - the feeding plant. Due to more than ten days of very cool and wet weather - the worst period of cold weather for this time of the year since 40 years here - I have not been up to these regions this year yet. So I am very pleased to see your excellent posting!
With thanks, and best regards,
Peter

I love everything on this shot: the incredibly fine details, the luminosity on the wings, the palette of subtle colors, the simple, yet very effective composition. A masterpiece.

Hello Chris
I really like this shot. An unusual species with the wing tips somewhat translucent. Great composition and uncluttered BG make this image something special.

Greg
